    Would I be nuts...

Re: Would I be nuts... As with the other comments here, you'd be fine with either. Both are capable rounds with similiar accuracy potential. One nice thing about the 30-06 is that every dinky little gas station in bumble-*&^% nowhere seems to have a box of shells sitting on the shelf. Then...

    Karsten's Cheek Rest

Re: Karsten's Cheek Rest I agree with JRose. Just got my first Karsten cheek rest in the mail. He's extremely easy to work with; answered all my questions and then some. Item shipped quickly and arrived with excellent instructions. Haven't mounted it yet but thus far, I'd have to say...

Pic of DPMS with new 308 PMAGs

Re: Pic of DPMS with new 308 PMAGs I don't have any specs in front of me but can someone comment on the weight difference between this Pmag and a DPMS mag? I thought I read these Pmags are a 50% weight reduction, is that right?

Rifle Scopes So with an Aimpoint...

Re: So with an Aimpoint... I agree with most on here. When sitting in the safe/case/cabinet I turn it off. If it's for home defense or when in combat, I left them on with no problems.

Rifle Scopes Zeiss Conquest or Burris XTR

Re: Zeiss Conquest or Burris XTR Given your original two choices, I'd also go with a Zeiss. Burris aren't bad but I feel the quality of the Zeiss is overall the better of the two. I don't get into the very long range shooting that others here do so the adjustment limitations are not...

Re: 6x scopes used by IDF I have one of those Kahles scopes that I got in a trade. Does anyone have some good info on them (documents or website)?

    Rifle Scopes Butler Creek Question

Re: Butler Creek Question A few weeks back I picked up some Butler covers for a Nikon scope (went in to the store to size them). Anyway, they have a new model or type of flip cover where the base is made of a more flexible or rubbery type material as opposed to the hard plastic. It seemed...

    m1a accuracy?

Re: m1a accuracy? I have a preban M1A in standard form. Doing some work on it now but previously, it would do 1-2 MOA with the crappy Springfield Armory scope mount and their fixed 10x scope. With a quality stock, mount and scope I expect this gun will do 1MOA on a consistent basis.

Re: Need a cheekrest... Perfect, I'll get back to you in a day or two to order one up. I'm liking that A Model... Thanks guys!

    Need a cheekrest...

A few years back I remember a person that made and sold cheekrests for rifles. His name or the company name may have had "Rooster" in it (sticks in my head). After a deployment I got back and couldn't find where the heck I saw that info the first time. I am looking for something adjustable...

    which semi .308?

Re: which semi .308? Got a price range you're trying to fit in with? My brother has a 16" LR-308, maybe the sportical version? It's a bit heavier than my 6.8 I use hunting but still manageable. He hasn't had an opportunity to shoot it over 200yds yet but it was decent that far. I'm sure...

Rifle Scopes 100 yd or 200 yd zero???

Re: 100 yd or 200 yd zero??? I zero at 100 yards for hunting. Obviously I then shoot 50 and 200 yards to see where impacts are just so I know. Also take into account that in nothern WI where I hunt, it would be rare to be presented with a shot over 100 yards. That's just due to the terrain...

    savage or m1a

Re: savage or m1a How old/new of an M1A? I'm not a big precision rifle shooter; I more attack paper and furry critters. I have a preban M1A with a SA receiver and all mil parts (mainly TRW). It's a great gun and makes me look like I'm a good shooter. I'm sure others here will comment but...

Rifle Scopes ?? Calculating Ring Height Needed

Re: ?? Calculating Ring Height Needed SPDGG, I run LaRue on some other stuff but I don't necessarily need the quick release ability on this rifle. That being said, I probably do need to push the scope forward and may need that SPR mount for that fact. Thanks for the numbers.

Rifle Scopes ?? Calculating Ring Height Needed

Either I'm too damn tired or suffering from a brain cramp. I'm trying to figure out what the minimum height rings I need to mount a Nikon 2.5-10x44 MonarchX on an AR flat-top. Scope has 30mm tube and will have butler creek flip caps on. Help this idiot figure out what rings I need to get to...

Anyone running a 16" AR in 6.8 SPC?

Re: Anyone running a 16" AR in 6.8 SPC? I'm running a 18" upper from TalonArms. I was told by GlobalTactical(?) for 6.8 that a 16" barrel is ideal. I'm not making the arguement either way; I'm assuming what a professional gunsmith recommends to be relatively accurate. I'm just a cheap...

Polymer tip .223 and FTF issues

Re: Polymer tip .223 and FTF issues I agree with Scotts556. In any of my semi-autos (AR, FAL, HK, M1A) I always try to shoot polymer tip rounds when not shooting FMJ. Shooting soft points consistently give me FTF problems in the 7.62 rifles and less-frequently in the AR.

Hunting & Fishing New hunting Rifle Suggestions

Re: New hunting Rifle Suggestions Just picked up a Savage 110 in .308 for my dad from Cabelas. They had some special going on (not sure if it still is); the gun plus a Cabelas 3-9 scope was $530 out the door. Scope isn't the greatest but can be replaced. From the reviews of people on this...
