Gunsmithing Having issues with a 1911 9mm...anyone have any ideas what could be wrong here?

I have been having some primer and accuracy with my beloved SS Springfield loaded 9 mm 1911... I have had this gun for three or four years. I have about 2000 rounds through it, and never had a problem until a few weeks back when I had some failure to fires from light primer strikes. Not...

    F T/R Competition Chrono results for .308 F/TR

I am not sure using just a micrometer to measure the oal is that accurate. I use a mircometer and a Hornandy insert for the caliber which measures from the ogive/shoulder interface. The tips on SMK's can vary a bit which is not indicitive of your real OALor seating depth which is what matters...

    Gunsmithing Grizzly lathe

I bought a Smithy....biggest friggin mistake I ever made. The wiring was a nightmare, looked like a lightning storm in there until I redid it ALL. The backlash is really bad, and when I bought a DI kit for it the parts wouldn't line up, the instuctions were in some language even smithy had to...

    Shoulder pressure in prone...

Yep, and not using max loads with temperature sensitive powders on a 100. F day. All rookie mistakes and I made all of them.

    Shoulder pressure in prone...

I agree. Basics are most important. A HM with a m1a is always going to beat an expert with a Tubb gun. Most of my issues are position related. After 7 matches I've plateaued just below expert with a service rifle. I have fits in off hand and at 600 yards. I believe off hand is concentration...

    Shoulder pressure in prone...

That's great for military. It's tough to find civilian "mentors" other than Appleseed or "tacti-cool" classes that train for the end of the world. But for learning positions, wind reading, loading techniques, and gear selection mentors outside of the sport are rare. Maybe F class is more...

Warning- Anschutz 54 rifles not safe to dry fire

I used those cheap plastic snap caps. They last about five pulls. I've used old cases and the seem to work as long as they are rotated to a new spot. Sometimes they are a little tough to chamber but not god awful bad.

    Shoulder pressure in prone...

One piece of advice. Go to a few matches and watch how the best shooters set up their positions. There is nothing better to separate the wheat from the chafe when it comes to positions, guns , slings , ammo, etc. Posting on the Internet for advice is a good start, but in your education as a...

Warning- Anschutz 54 rifles not safe to dry fire

Totally uncalled for. Poor manners in the least. On many boards you would get a warning or banned for a week. Can a shooter use a fired 22 rimfire case for dry firing? Its seems to me that would work if it can be chambered easliy.

    CA Unemployment help

Non competes ARE non binding in California. Period. Only binding if you sell a company. As to hiring an attorney a good one will work on a split but only IF HE feels he will win. To date your story sounds very strange and I can't ascertain the merits of your claim. If your boss is asking you...

    CA Unemployment help

I would say the unemployment process in California favors the worker, not the owner. And whats up with working and not getting paid? I am sure the labor board would take a strong stance against that. I had a lot of issues with employees at times, and the labor board was aggressive in pursuit of...
