Getting Carbon on the neck on my reloads

I experienced the same thing using Retumbo powder. with my 25-06 and heavy-for-caliber bullets. Accuracy was great but no matter what I did in the process I got sooty necks. A faster powder made the problem go away but I lost in the accuracy department.

    what's going on here?

One thing you might try to help figure it out is measuring neck thickness for uniformity. If one side is thinner it will be weaker. The brass itself might direct the tool a specific direction and result in a non uniform cut. If I'm loading for accuracy I will (at a minimum) sort my brass and...

Cowboys Vs Rams???? 1/12/19 Who’s Got It

I've hated the Cowboys since the Landry days when they proclaimed themselves to be "America's Team". Go Browns!

Maggie’s My 9 year old and his fox.....

Outstanding! Is your Fireball a rifle or a handgun? Mine is a rifle and my (then) teenage daughter used it to take a chicken-killing fox at ~75 yards off-hand when the fox was running through the horse pasture. Whe was sitting on top of the barn on watch. I know firsthand the proud poppa...

    Mechanical rest for load development??

I use an Uncle Bud's Bulls Bag in conjunction with a rear bag on the range bench when ringing out a load. My Bulls Bag is the large bag, I filled both bags with rice. I discovered each rifle has its own personality and positioning the rifle in the rest the exact same way ... every time ...

Talk me out of getting a Forster Co-Ax, please!

Read, re-read and re-read again post #40. I did not like the ergonomics of the Co-Ax. Sold it. Ended up with an Ultramag that I like a lot better and the original Lee Classic Cast that I like better too. Master your technique with your BB2 and start making tiny groups.

Maggie’s Video Released Of 'cops' Crew Member Getting Shot During Omaha Robbery

Lots of shots fired, if my count is accurate I counted 36. How many times did the cop reload and what was he shooting? Would like to know how many times the perp was hit. I have the utmost respect for LEOs but I would carry a bigger gun.

    Grip n pull

I have one for rifle bullets 22 - 30 cal. Works great but it will give your hands a workout if you have to do a lot of them.

    Budget Reloading- help please

The newer Lee Classic products are great and great value too. I suggest a Lee Classic Turret. Not the older Deluxe system. Lee are also coming out with some new progressives for 2018. If you are looking for volume the new four-station breech lock system is worth a look. On the Lee Classic...

    Ocw confusion

If you can shoot at 200 yards it will be better. 300 yards is better still. You're looking for minimum vertical dispersion over incremental charge weights. Also, don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure you have the rifle in the exact same position every time you pull the trigger...

I think I have found my .308 load (CFE 223)...

I don't understand why you're bragging. You completely missed the penny. Thanks for sharing.

Is anyone working with a 7mm Rem Mag?

Lots of load info out there. Mine is a Sauer 202 Deluxe. Favorite load is a Speer 175 grain Mag Tip bullet over a near max load of Retumbo.

    25 06

I've experimented with lots of component combinations for the 25-06. H4831 for 85 - 90 grain bullets. Retumbo for 100 grain and heavier bullets Mine is a Ruger #1V. It shoots as accurate as it is pretty.

Neck turning with a Lee Collet Die?

That's a terrific tool/combo. Inside ream, outside turn at the same time. I use it on my 25-06 reformed brass (30-06 to 25-06) and 221 Fireball re-formed from 223 military brass.

    Good gear for a beginner?

Don't buy anything Hornady. Plenty of good equipment out there. The Lee Classic Turret is great value in a very versatile press. Allows you to do single stage or auto-indexing turret.

    223 Bolt Gun Loads

If that were my target I would't look past 24.0 grains as long as I could repeat the results. Nice shooting.

good starter kit/ or individual components

Buy one each Lee Classic Cast and Lee Classic Turret press. Lee pistol dies work great, especially with the powder through expander die. Get the Lee Auto drum powder dispenser and the riser die kit. Get Forster rifle dies and still have money left over for other tools like the Lee Quick Trim...

(Canada's) ATRS ACCU-MAXX Reloading Press VS. (Germany's) Heavy Präzipress 140mm

I want to follow this thread. I recently migrated away from my Ultramag to a RCBS Jr. press for small caliber, small cartridge reloading. The Ultramag does great with 300 WM, 7mm RM and 45-70 that I reload but is way to much power for the small stuff. Is it your intent to use that big a$$ press...
