.338 Lapua 285 Grain ELD Match Hornady

Same results. Good compromise of speed and BC. Also, though it is not advertised as a hunting bullet, it has great terminal performance. 1500 for a 338 LM is a very reasonable distance especially for that bullet.

    Optics WTB LPVO **FOUND**

I am in the market for a good quality LPVO. I would prefer to stay in the 1-6 or 1-8 magnification range, but under the right circumstances I may consider others. My budget is $500-$1000 depending on what you have. Please feel free to PM me. Thanks guys.

Will 338 lapua still be competitive in elr competitions out to 2400 yards ???

As a few had previously mentioned, I would also recommend a 338 lapua improved. I am partially biased as I just ordered a 338LMAI. This being said, every cartridge that was mentioned here would also be outstanding. I originally liked the 338 lapua round quite a bit. My only problem was I...

    Stupid fireforming question

That’s all it is man. Just trying to get me shit squared away before I dive into ELR. There’s no better source than the experienced crew here.

    Stupid fireforming question

Thanks guys. I will do as you said and do a ladder as well as see if LRI will give me the reamer print as a backup. I had looked at the COW method, but I don’t like the idea of the head spacing being wrong. Would it be beneficial to shoot a high pressure round, then load it using the COW method...

    Stupid fireforming question

I was aware they could manufacture based on the reamer print, but they seem to recommend against it. Is it maybe not as big of a deal? Can a 338LM neck sizer be used in this situation?

    Stupid fireforming question

So I ordered a 338LM Ackley Improved barrel from LRI. I also plan to order custom dies since there are no commercial dies available. When reading about them, of course the manufacturers highly recommended sending fully fireformed cases for the most accurate dimensions. In my limited experience...

    338 Lapua and IMR 7977

More what I was meaning is I think 97 grains of 7977 with 250 grain bullets may be dangerous in bullets other than the 250gr hornady soft point. It seemed to me Hodgdon was more aggressive with the max load when comparing to other loads and in my case is sure was. YMMV

    338 Lapua and IMR 7977

I did see Hodgdon’s data, but unfortunately they only list the hornady SP bullet. I love Hodgdon, but I think 97gr is dangerous in most 250 class bullets. For example, berger lists 90gr of H1000 as the max charge. H1000 is supposed to be extremely close to IMR 7977. I tried 250gr Berger’s and...
