That was kinda my thought... When you have unmet domestic demand, why sell to questionable overseas customers.

    Which powder?

ya, but can he find get varget? I've not seen it in stock anywhere, but for a few moments. I'd be looking more to a IMR/AA/H 4064. Should get you 2650-2700 with a 175 out of the 308. Probably only about 2500 out of the -06 due to the short barrel. And will also work with the 30-30. The other...

Barrel Break In and Cleaning Questions

Only the solids on my 458's. If you load 'em a bit light, they don't go all the way through, and then they are much easier to recover.

What is wrong with loop for cleaning?

don't like loops because they leave the edges of the loop exposed and can rub on the barrel.

    Which powder?

You read a reloading manual and see what powders are listed, and then see what powders you can buy. Powder is so scarce right now, that you'll be selecting powders based on what you can actually buy. Its good to have a healthy fantasy life.

    308 subsonic??

I'll assume bolt gun... 4759 wouldn't be my first choice. First its a discontinued powder, and I would prefer a new load work up be based on something I'll be able to get in the future. Second, I'd be selecting a fast pistol powder Here is some interesting reading on working up subsonic...

    Suppressors QD v. Tread-on Suppressors

generally no, they just thread right on, or off. In this application I'd be thinking thread on. Some of the QD setups have a button, or release you need to press to unscrew from the QD mount. Also you'll need to choose a suppressor carefully so it fits inside the rail's dimensions. Not all...

something is already in the works http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-px-group-buys/225887-proof-research-338-lm-bbl-dtas.html but can't even get 20 interested people.. I think the last count was for about 4 interested people

    progessive reloaders

You said you are loading 45's.... I'll assume you are meaning ACP's. For non-rimmed straight wall pistol cartridges, you should be taper crimping. A roll crimp is most commonly used for rimmed pistol cartridges.

    Need help with dieting

Sounds kinda like my job. See if you can get into an extended stay hotel with a mini-kitchen. This will let you do some of your own meal prep. I bring an insulated lunch box type cooler on my trips and hit the grocery for microwave lunches. Not the best, but WAY WAY better than the on-site...

    progessive reloaders

you can still use your chargemaster and put a powder funnel in place of the dillon powder measure.

Rifle Scopes New glass for each rifle.

Thats the plan... the DTA is in the safe, now I'll need to move some other bolt guns down the road and put a better piece of glass on top of it. I'm already saving for the HTI... heck of an addiction.

    Powder weight variance

I think I've seen some tests where case weight is a very good predictor of internal volume. Hence the custom to sort brass lots by weight and cull very heavy, or light cases.

how many mils in a mil dot?

it also works the other way too... if your scope goes to 24x you can do ranging at that mag too, by halving the mills.... really any magnification could be used, as long as you apply the right corrections. In practice however, trying to do too much math, quickly, in your head is a recipe for an...

    Powder weight variance

if by drop you mean use a volumetric powder measure. Then I'll disagree. From what the testing I linked to above seems to indicate is that volumetric charges have a significant enough weight variance that it does make a difference. Perhaps not for hunting ammo on big game, but if your game is...

    Powder weight variance

not the same cartridge, but I have data from yesterday from my 308 over my chrony... vel charge 2521 41 2566 42 2666 43 2694 44 Worst jump was 100 FPS for a 1gr change in charge weight.... so if it were linear, .1gr would be 10 FPS. Probably well inside the ES of most peoples...

Bore patches absolutely will not come out clean :-(

Why do you clean a rifle... a few reasons. Remove things that will cause damage if left to sit... much more an issue back in the days of black powder, and corrosive primers.. mostly a non-issue today unless you are running old surplus, which I'll ignore if we are talking precision rifles...

    PTR rifle opinions

The JLD made PTR's are all good to go, except for a few. There was a problem in the first 100 or so guns where they used the wrong welding method and softened the trunions. I've not heard of a unfixed one in the wild in over 10 years... so I suspect the chance that you'll find an unfixed one is...
