Re: Spartan Precision Rifles & NCPPRC Club Rifle Build
Thanks guys I'm very happy with the way they turned out. Damn near a year in the making from the first discussions of the idea to delivery of the product. Now I'm looking forward to seeing those rifles perform on the line.
I owe a lot...
Re: Spartan 308
Thanks for the good words guys.
I'm glad your happy with the rifle Chops. You should clip and save all of the groups you've been shooting in the .0's so you can show that asshole who yelled at you for flinching :-)

Re: Spartan Precision .308
I'm glad it's working out for you Joe. Those are good groups but now you should go shoot more of them with several consecutive five shot groups one after another and take a pic of the entire target.

Re: KMW advice
It would probably cost you about 1,200-1,300 bucks to have the action trued, a custom barrel installed, pillar bedded, Jewell trigger installed and all the metal work coated. That would be a very nice rifle when completed.

Re: Bubinga Wood A5 Rifle
Very nice rifle John I'm sorry I missed seeing it at the show.
Joel is making one for me right now from a laminated blank of madrone that one of my customers made. He got the material from a fallen tree on his property in California and that is the hardest wood...
Re: Lapua .260 Rem brass in 2011
That's great. I talked to them at SHOT last year also and they seemed like they were sick of hearing it. Then went on to say that they already had the 6.5 diameter covered with other cartridges.

Re: New Army sniper rifle just on Fox news
In addition to previous comments about the awkward/sharp edges I see a lot of failure points. It doesn't look like something that's meant for a hard life in the field.

Re: How to protect blue finish barrel in lathe?
Thanks guys I think I'll try wrapping the entire barrel in masking tape, then give it maybe two layers of tape where the jaws will hold it, and use some lead shims too. I did tell the customer about my concerns and my inexperience with blued...
I have a customer that sent me an old Sako with a very nice blue finish for a muzzle brake install. This will be the first time I've worked on a blue finish barrel and I'm not sure how to protect the finish from marks left by the jaws in my lathe. I don't think lead or brass shims would be good...
Re: Bedding an aluminum bedded stock????
I've bedded several of them I think it's a good idea. As stated above I just rough it all up with a dremel. I put a couple layers of tape on the bottom, sides and front of the recoil lug so there isn't any contact in those areas. It only contacts the...
Re: shooting a gun sideways?
Brian that is true but I believe he may be talking about the issue of mechanical offset. This is obvious, but with a scope mounted two inches or so above the bore then the bullet will, in effect, "rise" up to the line of sight, cross it while continuing to "rise"...
Re: My new .308 build
Gunguru- Sharp eye! That thing actually broke at the Hide Cup this year. I flipped it open and the cap flew 6 feet out in front of me. I doubt I'll bother getting the new one repainted
19Scout- I'd like to make EVERY ASC match but it's hard for me to plan anything...
Re: My new .308 build
Honestly I don't remember what the barrel contour is. Bruno's had it sitting on a shelf and it was close enough so I took it.
Mac where in the hell have you been dude? No this is not a 1K match gun. What I wanted out of this build was a more field manageable .308 with...
This is my newest build.
Surgeon RSR action
Surgeon 20 MOA base
Krieger 1/10 barrel at 24" (it's what they had at Bruno's at the time)
MacMillan A3 stock with marble swirl in 50% olive, 25% tan, 25% black
Jewell trigger set to about 2 lbs.
Rage Machine prototype DBM
KMW Loggerhead cheekpiece...
Moon and Ern from GAP had some problems with cancelled flights to ASC. Ern will be arriving late tonight like maybe around 2200 or 2300 and as of right now does not have a ride to Seneca Rocks. If any of you guys are arriving around the same time and are able to help out please contact me and...
Re: Where to send rifle for painting?
Todd at Phantom Finishing does really nice stencils and multiple colors for some outstanding camo patterns. Anything from a regular multicam or woodland pattern or his trademark "Phantomflage". He can throw some subtle custom images within that design...
Re: Nice PSS tune up
Yeah the scope is a cheap model compared to what most of us compete with but I think it's fine for a light weight hunter. The barrel was cut down to 24".
