    What's -40* feel like?

In the mid 90’s when diamonds were first discovered in the Canadian Arctic, there was virtually zero expertise in North America, and the geologists were largely South African or Russian. It was a pretty funny contrast how those two groups dealt with -40 plus wind temps. Me, glad I experienced...

Range Report Anyone bored and want to play rifle doctor...

Last year I had a 308 barrel do the same thing at around 2200-2400 rounds. The barrel shot 3 shot groups into one hole right from the start and for the next few months, but suddenly after a field match I shot a couple groups with the same ammo to check zero and it was a 1” to 1-1/4” inch gu ...

Rifle Scopes New budget riflescope from Bushnell - Match Pro

I know reticle are a personal thing (I go back and forth between a G3 and h59), but whoever put the graduation numbers on the inside of the vertical tree so you can be forced to shoot a holdover with a number superimposed on top of the target should be horsewhipped.

MDT mags in a Tikka CTR?

Yes they work if you file a bit off the front. They will interfere with the bolt if you push up on them. they are adequate as a backup/spare to the $100+ ctr mags but I wouldn’t recommend them as a replacement.

    Gunsmithing Bolt handle/timing

top to bottom; RR serial original bolt RR serial with the primary extraction ramp built up and bolt handle moved forward by accu-tig.com C serial original bolt You can see how the original RR bolt has very little camming, when you add extra fore-aft play, you get a lot of difficult extraction...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite Tactical G2DMR FFP or something else?

The 6-24x50 is the early elite tactical and has no locking turrets, no zero stop, and only 5 mils/turn turrets. I had one and they are decent scopes, but I’d keep pass at only a couple hundred les than a dmr2

    Gunsmithing Bolt handle/timing

Dan at accu-tig.com just asked for a measurement with feeler gauges between the bolt handle and receiver. He built up and reshaped the primary extraction ramp and moved everything forward and it works perfect. Not Defiance or Impact perfect of course, but definitely better extracting and...

    Someone had a bad day...

I wonder how the brass that flowed into the ejector hole stayed there and didn’t get swiped off when the bolt rotated out of battery?

Gunsmithing Need measurements on AI AISC Mag

The mags I have are 0.410” to 0.420” between the feed lips They should be parallel for 308 based stuff, but I have found that cartridges with less taper like x47 and Creedmoor feed better if you open the front slightly, maybe 0.440 or so
