    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

They've hired a bunch of new gorillas with pipe wrenches since they built the Gen1's. ;)

    6.5 Creedmoor

For those of you that have shot both SRP and LRP brass, are you seeing the SRP last longer? Lower SD/ES? I'm prepping to load for my RPR with 26" PVA barrel. Berger 130 hybrids, H4350. Just can't make up my mind if I want to go to Lapua or to Alpha, Norma or some other LRP brass.

    A&D 120i auto trickler

Nice thinking on the Playdoh container. Now I gotta find one just for the lid. Another idea for the powder... 1/4 cup measure. Deep and a nice sturdy long handle. Was in a whole set of measures for 89 cents at WalMart.

Reasonably priced rifle case, shooting mat?

You looking for a hard or soft case? How long is the rifle? Midway has a few different mats that are nice and well priced. I have the Pro series and I really like it. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/939101910/midwayusa-pro-series-competition-shooting-mat

Rear bag for long range, prone or bench

I use a Protektor bag with my RPR but I shoot mostly off a front rest in that configuration. You might consider something like a Wiebad Mini Range Cube if you are using a tactical style bipod. That's what I use when I have the Atlas bipod on my RPR. It's 4" one way and 6" the other. Filled with...

Rear bag for long range, prone or bench

All of these style bags are made for the adjustability to be the angle of the butt so you slide the rifle fore or aft to adjust the height. These are not squeeze to adjust like tactical bags. They are very stable though.

A&D FX120i scale need help before I buy

I have my cell phone, wi-fi speakers etc... on my bench. Have seen no interference with the FX-120 at all. I have all led lights in the gun room so not sure about florescent but I highly doubt they would cause any problem. Air movement is much more likely to affect it so I close the overhead...

Rear bag for long range, prone or bench

The aforementioned Protektor or perhaps the SEB Bigfoot or Edgewood Gator are well suited to long range slow fire target shooting. I have the Protektor and SEB. I much prefer the SEB. http://protektormodel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=42 http://www.edgebag.com/catalog.html...

Why 223 and 308 are not dead .....yet

True. Almost all .308 where I shoot. Wish they'd open it up to more calibers but I don't see that ever happening.

Why 223 and 308 are not dead .....yet

Thanks...I think..lol.. I'm in the body shop business so can't help myself when it comes to smearing a little paint. Wanted something different. Guess I got it. Best view of the pimp paintwork is on the bottom where nobody ever sees it. ;) And by the way, this was a ton of work. Not sure I'd do...

Why 223 and 308 are not dead .....yet

Lapua LRP brass neck turned and trimmed. Berger 200.20x projectile. OAL 3.10. Actually a pretty common round in the F-T/R long range game.

Rifle Scopes New to Long Range Shooting

I shoot NRA F Class in F-T/R. All F class matches are shot prone at known distances. Mid range matches are from 300-600 yards. Long range up to 1000. F-T/R is restricted to .223 and .308. Bipods and rear bags. F Open has unlimited calibers and can shoot off front rests. I very much enjoy F-T/R...

Neck sizing bushings: supposed to “float”?

From the instructions page on Whidden's site... "Installing a bushing in your Bushing Sizer Die: Remove decapping assembly by unscrewing top plug on sizer and removing the entire assembly. Drop in the bushing (ensure you’re installing per instructions on the card supplied by manufacturer)...
