Impact Prefit Barrel in a Surgeon Action

I have an Oklahoma vintage Surgeon 591 action. I would like to replace the existing barrel with a 20" carbon barrel in 6GT. I've read conflicting posts on whether an Impact prefit will "work" on the Surgeon 591. Any updates to this thread? If a prefit will "work", I'd appreciate your...

    Surgeon Action?

I recognize this is an old thread. Sorry. Does a Surgeon 591 action drop in to the KRG Bravo? Are any modifications required? Thanks.

    Tikka T3X TacA1-223 discontinued?

I couldn't find a Tikka T3X CTR in 223. My solution was to buy this: Tikka T3X Varmint 223 I will have my friendly neighborhood gunsmith cut the barrel to 20" and thread. I also purchased a KRG Bravo and Area 419 rail. I'm anxious to get it all put together and send some rounds down range...

    6gt

Any shooting position is allowed. Most folks shoot from a bench. Scoring is the shooter's last 10 shots. Keeping 10 consecutive shots sub MOA from a light rifle is "challenging ". Great intel in this thread. Much appreciated.

    6gt

Sorry I was unclear. The 10.5 lb. limit is for the unloaded rifle with scope. Bipod, suppressor, sling, etc. are not included in the weight limit. Thanks.

    6gt

Thanks for the highly informative thread. Straight Jacket Armory will install a 21.5" 6GT barrel on my Sig Cross next week. I went with a shorter barrel to keep total unloaded weight < 10.5 lbs. per the rules of our local 600 yard match. I have good supplies of H4350, Varget, and RL 15.5. I...

    Tikka T3X CTR First Shots...WOW!

First shots fired last weekend with my new Tikka T3x CTR 6.5 Creedmoor. Mine is the 20" blue version. Everything shot sub MOA. I put together 50 rounds of this load for the 600 yard match next weekend. Thannks for the informative thread!

    Tikka T3X CTR First Shots...WOW!

Thanks very much! You've been very helpful. I hope to get the same results. We have a new hunter/sporter class in our local 600 yard match that requires the unloaded rifle with scope to be < 10.5 lbs. This should do nicely!

    Tikka T3X CTR First Shots...WOW!

I'm putting together the same rifle now. What weight of Staball 6.5 did you settle on with the 147 ELDM? Excellent shooting!

    Bore Tech Suppressor cleaner

I asked TBAC about cleaning when I bought my cans. I was told not to worry about it. In short, the folks at TBAC found little performance degradation when their cans are "dirty". Perhaps things have changed. This was a few years ago.

    6.5 Creedmoor

Recommended load for Tikka T3X CTR? I have a new Tikka T3X CTR arriving today. I generally load 140 Hornady ELDM or Berger Hybrid with 42.4 grains of H4350. That combination shoots well in my Surgeon heavy gun and my Barrett Fieldcraft. I'll likely start that way with the Tikka unless someone...

Scientific differences between Applied Ballistics and Horus Kestrel.

I've had the 4500NV AB BT for about a month. It's an amazingly powerful tool. Two stand outs for me: 1) the accuracy of the solutions; and 2) the ability to function without a cell signal. Two relatively minor complaints: 1) the installation process could be more intuitive; and 2) occasional...

    Kuhl pants?

Kuhl - Great for Around Town I have the Kuhl "Revolver" pants. They are great for around town. However, they're not my first choice for hunting/field wear. I recommend you consider the Rail Riders pants - especially the Versa Tac light and mid. They are tough, roomy, and have plenty of...

    Check out this Yeti cooler

I just bought a Yeti Tundra 75 from Austin Kayak. With free shipping and a 15% discount code from Facebook, the total cost was $365. A few factors led me to the Yeti: 1) Yeti does seem to be the standard in high-end coolers. 2) The Yeti came standard with a dry goods basket. Brute charges...
