    Autotrickler V4 vs RCBS Matchmaster

Hell YES! I just bought a pair of these and am unimpressed at this point as I've spent over 1 1/2 hours tweaking shit I know nothing about in an attempt to match the precision and speed I was getting with my V1 autotrickler! My V1 stepper motor finally quit after 6 years and I'm waiting in...

    Two Vets 55m vs Anvil-30

Yes, that is exactly what I do ... best of both worlds.

    Two Vets 55m vs Anvil-30

The anvil-30 is great for shooting off but it's lacking as a dedicated glassing platform...... if your primary use is glassing then ball head all the way..... mainly shooting the anvil-30 hands down.

Can I put a Surgeon Bolt Knob on an Impact???

Mine date to the first year of manufacture as both are sub 100 serial number...... I'm not familiar with the current spec but the thread title caught my attention as I've got the surgeon knob on my impact!

Can I put a Surgeon Bolt Knob on an Impact???

Yes you can, I prefer the surgeon style knob as well....... it matches fine but I think it needed a short piece of threaded adaptor due to both the bolt and handle having female threads.

Medium length vs long action..what am I missing.

I love my XM actions for hunting rifles in 7-300WSM and 6.5 PRC, like others have said the ability to load out to 3.2" is a game changer. As for why not just use a long action.... if your going to go LA then there are better cartridges like the .280 ackley or a 6.5-06 that I'd go to and likely...

    Range Card Advice

Loaded it into the attached .zip file......I've got it set up to accept a copy paste from the shooter ballistic app, with tabs for each DA in 1k' elevation increments plus lots of other handy reference cards like MIL ranging and slope adjustment etc. I paste the data into PowerPoint and scale...

    Range Card Advice

I run a card very similar to this but only one wind call..... don't over complicate this, what good does having a 6&12 on this example do other than show you it's exactly double? Give me one wind value like 10 MPH and I can break is down into 5 & 15 pretty quick that will do the same thing and...

    20" 6.5 PRC Experience

I just built one on an XM defiance for hunting.....20" proof 1:8 that weighs in Just under12# with the can, scope and double pull bipod. I previously had a 24" proof and was getting 3,100 fps with 143's. First outing with some of that previous ammo nets just under 2,900 fps in this new 20" and...

    9mm powder for defensive rounds

I'll share my opinion on the subject of using hand loads for self defense, it's worth what your paying for it, take it or leave it.... 1. Ive always heard it's a bad idea to reload your own ammo that may be used in a defense situation where an DA or opposing attorney could use this fact against...

Gunsmithing Getting factory barrel off Tikka T3x lite

Be careful how much clamping force you apply to the action wrench, I recently worked on one and compressed the action to the point where the bolt won't fit! I've successfully removed a half dozen or so and even had to cut a couple off of earlier ones using the brownells universal action wrench...

Anyone built a 1/2 minute rifle off a Wby action?

in response to your question I actually did the exact build your proposing , I bought a factory wby in 30-378 years ago and when the tube was smoked I spun up a 338 Lapua in its place, works great. I run the 300 Berger's at the lands with the standard spec reamer and have no problem with...

Why we can't have nice things,

This post nailed it....... while I don't claim to be anybody in the sport I've been involved with running national level matches for both organizations..... one thing I've always thought that would add value is for the association to obtain a large insurance rider and make it available to...

    Browning A Bolt question

Nothing special fitting the bolt head, it swapped right out. The barrel on this one came off pretty easy, make sure it's gripped tight, use heat and strike the wrench with sharp blows. I've done all three of my older a-bolts and two of my buddies, I have had to make relief cuts on a couple of...

    Browning A Bolt question

Sure can, I just converted a old 22-250 a bolt I had to a 6.5 PRC. Simply ordered a new bolt head and for $50 bucks, ordered a magazine and spun up a new tube for the new chambering. I really like the old A-bolts for hunting rifles..... not great for matches due to lack of bottom metal options...

Interest in a more vertical grip for J allen?

I'm definitely in for a couple depending on how they turn out..... I'm ok with as close to 90* as you can get and prefer the palm shelf as well but it's not a requirement. My preference would be as soft a material as possible to match the OEM. i never chimed in on the linked thread but watched...
