Jewell HVR w/ bolt release; right side safety

Jewell HVR, has been on my rifle for about a year, maybe 200 rounds under it. A spring installed, B/C spring included. Nothing wrong with the trigger, just want to try a Bix N Andy. I can get pics if needed, but I mean, its a trigger. $180 shipped to the lower 48, plus pp fees.

I won a free Proof carbon barrel that I'm unsure of what to do with...

I built a 28 nosler with a proof barrel so I could have a light-ish hunting rig. good bullet selection, not harsh on recoil even in a lighter rig.

Gunsmithing 28 Nosler in 700 long action

I've chambered a few on regular magnum long actions. Like mentioned above, you have to SLIGHTLY open the feed rails. My reamer puts the bullets out there so I always used an extended mag box or longer mags in a chassis build

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 extractor replacement

I have a rivet style extractor that needs to be replaced. It seemed easy enough so I bought a rivet and extractor from Brownell's and gave it a go. I successfully got it in but it didn't function properly. Since I've already wasted $100 on the anvil and another broken extractor/rivet, I...

How much freebore is too much?

Whether it shoots or not, you got nowhere close to what you asked for. An "old" reamer means he didn't use one to match your dummy round or he used saami and then a throater well beyond what you asked for. Either way, I'd be pissed.

    Let's talk 28 Nosler builds

I've built a few for myself and two of my friends. One savage, one rem 700 and one on a tl3 which is mine. All shoot good, specifically throated for the 195's at cip mag length. On the rem 700, had to do a bit of file work to get the case to fit through the action but other than that, no huge...

Hunting & Fishing Bow hunting for turkey?

I use a few different types of mechanicals, never had an issue. It's usually whatever I have left from deer season. I don't buy anything specific or special for a turkey. Wouldn't waste the money. Plus they die easy, just make a good shot and dundo.

Gunsmithing Gunsmith work for a bolt action .300 Blackout

He does, not sure what he has in stock tho. He uses K&P barrels, top notch. I have a k&p that I can feed almost anything and easily get consistent "bullets touching" type groups.

    What 7mm for a mile

I just finished my 28 nosler shooting 195's. Shot at a mile for the first time in my life last weekend and had relative success. I don't know what would be better than a 28 nosler, I'm shooting the 195's at 3160fps from normal cip mag length. I'm not an experienced elr shooter obviously, but I...

What is the perfect 3 caliber setup?

And since each one reaches further than the next, you can go with short barrels on the 22-250 and 6.5 to save weight, the velocity loss won't be a big deal. My 250 is. 17" barrel and 6.5 is 18".

What is the perfect 3 caliber setup?

8 twist 22-250, 6.5 Creed and 28 nosler. That's what I have and don't feel the need for anything else. I know 223 is cheaper for factory ammo, but if you reload you can get much better performance from the 22-250 without much additional cost. Then you'd share the same bolt between 22-250 and 6.5

    Good days work

Looks good. Great job on the blended thread protector. I always have a hard time getting them 100% invisible. I can usually barely see part of the seam, especially if I unscrew it and tighten it back up. How do you do it?

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

Finally got my action Friday, chambered the barrel yesterday and shot this morning a little. Ordered in December, so it's been quite a wait. 28 nosler, proof 1-8 twist, berger 195 seated at coal 3.730,

    28 nosler build questions

Use a cip mag or an extended box. Your action will require a little modification to let the bolt open far enough and for the box to fit. And as mentioned, you'll have to open the rails a little bit, but quick work with a file. I'd run the 195's, well I am actually, but I know a lot of people...

    Switch Barrel Technology

If I were starting from scratch, I'd buy a tl3 or something similar with an integrated recoil lug and just buy shouldered barrels and use as a switch barrel setup. No need for nuts or head spacing issues. Then, as said above, one optic, trigger, chassis etc. And a few barrels.

Gunsmithing Muzzle brake timing with a switch barrel setup

Not u nless you take that brake off and send it to the Smith to be timed when the barrel is threaded. However, it's been my experience that once you have a brake timed on a barrel, it is best to leave it there. Just get another brake to keep on the other barrel, problem solved and probably the...

28 nosler - can't bring group in any smaller

Small update, went down in powder to 84.4 and 84.6 and finally have a decent group. Only got the one picture, but both groups are very similar with identical point of impact on the target. Going to mess with these two and see where we go. Thanks for all the help
