I hunt off an OG game changer with gitlite. I use occasionally at matches. It’s about 75% as stable as my heavy landfill schmedium. Lust misses that deep sink feeling the sand has. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for a youngster
If I was buying new today it’d be the xero. Out of what you listed it be the magneto speed. It’s what I use now, and it does affect. Group sizes. But whatever group is smallest with it on, is smallest with it off.
I like the Ace brake. And I have hunted with it. It is loud (all the good ones are) and even though I think it’s the one of the most gentle on the shooter, hunt with quality ear pro.
I’d start by attending a few local matches. Guys there are almost always willing to let you try their gear. It will save you a ton of money and a box full of gear that you feel is “meh”.
I will follow up what others have said. Don’t try and save money on the bipod. Also I’d carry a bigger game...
Still struggling with the bergers. I screwed the barrel back on yesterday. The barrel was pulled with 2025 rounds on it.
Started the test with ammo that had been loaded in June 2023. I have a friend that gave me 20 131s the check the load with. All the rounds in this test were pulled down from...
I am going to give the Hornady a shot a local comp coming up. I have a lot of bergers and I might give them a shot at a speed that doesn’t show pressure. (2650ish)
Nationals I’ll run the 6CM it’s treating me pretty well.
Tried the 134s today. I shot a ladder looking at velocities and pressure limits. 36.9 and 37.2 were just over 100% capacity. (Very light crunch on bullet seating) round was super consistent had no problem keeping them all on an 8x12 plate at 500. Could spot trace easily up until 36 grains...
I’m still running an early v2 from 2017 or 2018. It’s been upgraded to the v3 electronics and funnel and now the IP tricker. Runs like a champ with the exception it will not do fine ball powders. (It leaks out of the original Lee powder dropper)
The case mouth is bottoming out against the mandrel where it steps from his desired diameter to the larger OD at the top. The brass is chamfered so the thinner edge is smashed down forming a ridge or a flare it’s not crushing the case because it is just kissing the bottom by a few thousandths
I’m with @whatsupdoc. I think it’s your mandrel. I’ve seen it before, you might not have seen it on the virgin brass because it was shorter, for instance lapis is normally .002-.004 short of trim length.
Last year I had a deer hunt, work got in the way and the only rifle that was put together zeroed and had ammo that had been drop verified was my match rifle. I liked hunting with the gun I shoot all the time but packing a 23# rifle through the mountains was not pleasant so I decided to build a...
Ace is the only brake I am running on my guns now. Before that, the heathen. The three port was less concussive than the ace but the Ace has much less and flatter recoil.
The match was great! Turn out might a have been a little less than last year but the level of competition was much elevated.
The Bolt Gun Nation would like to thank our sponsors. We are a smaller outlaw series and matches and the industry really stepped up to support us and the sport. If you’re...
