    Yeah I forgot the ejection port. I dropped mine in a manners for a 700 just while I waited for a different chassis and I just ran it with the 700 port and it still ejected fine. I would've opened it up if it was staying in it.

    I'd sell the rifle and get money towards a short action. It will save you lots of head aches. You'll run into feeding issues and having to have spacers in your mags, etc. With that cartridge though, 24-26" would be fine and in a Remington varmint contour should only weigh in around 10-14lbs...

    The dta's I've seen in matches have all had feeding issues. Especially in non 308 calibers. Between the two I'd definitely go ai, 10 Rd mags and a much better trigger.     I'm surprised you were able to resize the machine gun brass to begin with. That stuff can be very out of spec. I'd try new brass then try different powder if you're dead set on the barnes.

    anytime you take brass fired from another rifle there is that chance. Gap is going to have a tight custom chamber so brass from a production gun is going to probably fit very tight. Id try some new brass.
