Extra Surgeon 591 Bolt fit an RSR receiver?

Why? Every action maker already supplies a bolt with their actions that is machined to fit the action they make. I see zero point in this. I could see wanting a lighter action but even there, the action is mostly air, it is the barrel that makes up the majority of the weight in a rifle...

Change in velocity with different actions?

The action isn't a factor unless headspace differs which is really a function of barrel installation and chambering, not the action. I would not expect identical velocities between any two guns. Velocity, by itself, is not much of a determiner of accuracy anyway. The shooter is almost always...

    PIERCE ENGENERING rifles

I have a Pierce action on my 6.5CM rifle built by Accurate Arms and it works. No complaints and the rifle is a hammer. It is not quite as smooth as the Surgeon Action in my 6.5x47L rifle but at the pace I shoot, 5 rounds in 2 minutes, it is not an issue. The 6.5 x 47 is a Greg Tanner build...

    Anybody Eat "High Meat"?

Cuts down on the stank. The 10-12 day is not too bad, Peter Luger runs 21 days.

    Anybody Eat "High Meat"?

Some of the finest steak houses dry age their beef. Of course they trim off the rotten parts before cooking and don't allow maggots to get at the meat.

Advanced Marksmanship Determining Altimeter Setting? Density Altitude Calculation

Another source for density/altitude charts might be found in drag racing calculators. They use it for jetting changes to optimize HP output. EFI has taken most of that away but not all drag cars/bikes use EFI.

    Keep my .243???

Sure, why not, as long as it is still shooting. While you're at it, pick up a 6.5x47 and see what the shorter cartridge is all about.

Recommendations for accurate 300 win mag around $2k?

I have a former co-worker that I still keep in touch with who has gotten an Elk every time he goes out and has done so for the last 20 years or so. An old Remington BA, in 25-06 is his gun. He hunts both Oregon and Washington and has never had to trail very often. He hunts for meat, not...

Zero issues and seating depth test

Don't do both. I tend to leave my windage set to my zero value and then use the reticle. I will quite often do the same for elevation if I'm working at short distances. I even estimate holds using nothing but a duplex reticle, even irons when I am playing with one of my 22s. Yes, you hold...

    Maggie’s Houston Texas gone nuts?

Down here in Florida I can carry in an establishment the serves alcohol. I just cannot legally sit at the bar but must sit at a table separate from the bar. I fail to see the distinction but comply nevertheless. When going to a shooting event, I may have far more than 3 guns with me and far...

Rifle Scopes Having a problem shooting with both eyes open

Place some clear cellophane tape over the left lens of your shooting glasses. This allows light into the eye but no focus on that eye. Your brain will take care of the rest in short order. It may take more than one layer but it works. Used that system for years when I shot a. lot of trap.

    Crime does not pay

Shame the driver didn't really know how to use a baton. A couple of good pokes in the ribs would have. left a blubbering mass in the foot well.

    Advanced Marksmanship Wind effecting Elevation?

I love the river of wind analogy. It makes so much sense. What you know is that the water is flowing down stream, otherwise it is a lake and not a river. Yes there is flow within a lake as well. Water coming in and water going out. Now, you can gather certain data about the water flow...

    Max effective range

Every one of the negative posts I have gotten are from folks who have worked at shooting for years and years, either as a hobby or in their profession. Of course, I would expect a SWAT sniper to be able to hit a man sized target in the chest at 600 yards when shooting from even a cheap rest...

    Max effective range

Suck my sweaty balls, asshole. It is you. who is being the loud mouthed idiot here. Guns do not shoot themselves, therefore, to be effective, the shooter must direct the gun on target and pull the trigger. Effective range is the range at which the shooter can deliver the bullet on target and...

    Max effective range

And what was the criteria for qualification? 1:20, 5:20, 20:20? In how short a time and in what positions? Your later statements actually agree with mine.

    Max effective range

Near as I can tell, the OP is not a Marine. The army seemed happy that I could hit man sized targets out to 350m from a slung standing position. Back when I was in, we were still using M14s, I fired expert. FT/R is a whole different discipline. So is practical rifle and service rifle...

Helping a friend deal with Parkinsons while shooting

Not intended in any way shape of form as medical advise, I am not a doctor. The above said, I shake like a dog passing a peach pit, most especially in my hands. Propranolol helps me with this, even when not keeping my blood sugar under control. I have what are called essential tremors due to...

    determining Length of Pull

I always set length of pull first. I usually use a standing postition for this and just mount the gun in such. a way that may hand is.comfy on the trigger. and my. face is on the stock. I actually mount the gun to my face first and then. pull it into my shoulder. 100K or so 12 gauge trap...
