I put my money down on a Nucleus. Since you can't order one now, I'd probably get the Bighorn Origin. It's not missing any features from a TL3 that I need.
If it fit the budget, a Mausingfield would be lovely.
What's the word on Grayboe? I really like their new Ridgeback offering. Do they do well without bedding? Other than weight, any reason to choose a McMillan or Manners over them?
I'd really like to go ahead and get a manners stock ordered for my Nucleus/barloc build but am unsure about clearances and the like. Looks like if the the stock will clear a Savage barrel nut, it will work the the barloc too.
That's nice to hear. One thing I was worried about is that perhaps the 115s might begin to approach 6.5 123 recoil. Which isn't bad! I'm just wanting a soft shooting 6.
The way I understand it is that neither process produces a barrel more accurate than the other when they are done right.
As a generalality, cut rifling produces a more consistent barrel across X number of barrels. Where as if the condition of the button isn't monitored properly it can...
Not sure if that's the case as I don't have the custom drag curve for the 110 in applied ballistics. The custom curve for the 115 beats the standard G1 of the 110.
For me, the deciding factor to go 115 over 110 was that the DTACS work fine in a 1:8 where the 110s like at least a 1:7.5.
I went through the EXACT same decision, have a 6.5CM, was choosing between these two. I went with the 6creed since, like others said, it will actually be different. Going to run 115 DTACS high 2900s to low 3000s.
Who has a good bit of experience with this bullet? Is it sensitive to jump? How much does it like? Curious how often I'll have to tune it over the life of a barrel. Does the RBT feature really help with barrel life?
The rifle is in pretty good shape. I plan on keeping the original barrel and stock if I ever wanted to put it back. I looked up the date code, it's a 1970 model. Is there much I can do about the wood stock, it is not helping things. I've seen the zero move with temp change.
Here's a photo...
It shoots fairly well for deer at 100 yards as long as the temp doesn't change. It is a 30-06 and has a pencil barrel and a tight wood stock, it moves around with temp changes.
I'd like to turn it into an all-rounder hunting rifle. Handy enough to carry in the woods, capable enough to...
