Rifle Scopes Viper shim zero stops don't repeat??

That type of zero stop is NOT designed as a hard stop, just a soft stop so you can't become a "rev off". When you hit the soft stop, wherever that is, you to turn back up to your "0".

    Magnum primers for .308win

I have used WLRM primers in 308Win with no ill effects but not ideal outcomes. In given charge weight mag primers gave about 30FPS more but the ES/SD was higher than std primers. Mid-range loads so no pressure issues noted from a bolt gun.

    6.5x47 Lapua question

Whether the rifle is going to need a FP hole bushed is dependent on: The FP hole diameter (use gauge pins to accurately determine the diameter) The Firing Pin fit to the FP hole (loose fit is going to get primer puckering) Primer cup hardness/thickness The pressure of your loads If your FP...

Rifle Scopes Current state of MOA and MIL

"This is important Mr. Gant. You must think in Russian." Both will work fine, and as everyone said it's easier to think in tenths. In my experience what's more important it depends on what everyone else using around you. If everyone is making wind calls in Mils and you're in MOA...

    Hot 308 Barrel Life

IME 155's@3Kfps in 24" barrel..... about 4 - 4.5K rounds, depending on your strings of fire and your accuracy expectation. A longer barrel will allow you to run lower pressures which will give you longer barrel life.

I shot 208AMAX's, very similar experience to yours. Primarily used it for informal F-class shooting since i had to single feed.

Why the Gradual Shift in Cartridge for PRS

My theory on the move from fast 6's (6x47, 6XC, 6Creed, 6SLR,..) to the small 6's (6BR, 6BRA, 6BRDX, 6Dasher) based on my own experience is load stability. The small 6's do have longer barrel life and lower recoil, but I think more importantly the load node seems to last longer. With the fast...

    Barrel heat up?

That sounds like mirage from heat coming off the barrel. But groups opening up when the barrel gets hot from shooting is a real thing, depending on the quality of the barrel and residual stresses in it from the manufacturing process.

lonegun, I feel your pain, as it mirrors my own experience. In my case it was just costing me too much time and effort beating my head against the bureaucracy.

Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

Getting back to the original question on whether the FN-SPR's are extinct; I think they have moved to hunting and other lower round-count shooting disciplines. Stubbornly I have run three FN actions for many years as my competition rifles but no more for these reasons: The extra complication...

Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

Price ain't the issue. It's having to have the action in hand to time the extractor cut. Since I don't have the facilities to do my own barrel work, means I have to send the action, even though the smith has all the dimensions, so the extractor cut can be timed correctly. Without the...

Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

I was a diehard FN-SPR fan for a long time, but 6mm barrels don't last long and having to send the action to get a barrel fitted due to the extractor cut, even when getting multiple barrels chambered at once, was a deal breaker once I went to push feed pre-fit barrels. I still have SPR's and...

PVA Black Friday Barrel Lead Time

So, I'm understanding your situation; you ordered a pre-fit shouldered barrel for a Impact action and the headspace is a smige too long? You did not send the action to PVA and they cut the barrel based on nominal action specs? If that's the case, sounds like either tolerance stack or process...

Headspace check necessary when switching AI barrels?

I would check the headspace the very first time the barrel is screwed on, just to make sure everything was machined to spec.
