    Manners MCS-SL stocks

Re: Manners MCS-SL stocks This one is my personal coyote rifle, and was featured in an article in Gun Digest this last year for a varmint hunt in Australia. It has a Stiller TAC-30 action, and a #4 contour Bartlein cut to 25" (.750 at the muzzle). With a Leupold 4.5-14 in Seekins rings...

    Gunsmithing Acriglas Sucks

Re: Acriglas Sucks Sounds like your mix ratio was a ways off, or your work area was really hot. When you did mixed it up did you also remember to add some chopped glass fiber, or wood fiber? If you didn't the stuff is much more likely to crack or shatter.

    Gunsmithing Broughton Barrel

Re: Broughton Barrel The barrel is lapped by hand. The last inch or so on each end will be oversized. Taking 2" is a bit more than usually needed, but would make sure you were back to good dimensions.

Gunsmithing Trigger creep in Model 70

Re: Trigger creep in Model 70 Montana Rifle Company. They make an action that is basicly a hybrid of the model 70 and the 98 Mauser. They use an exact copy of the M70 trigger on their actions.

Gunsmithing Trigger creep in Model 70

Re: Trigger creep in Model 70 Easy trigger to do if you have the tools. I normally get a new trigger and sear from MRC as theirs are solid steel rather than sintered metal, and then set the sear engagement to .020 with the mill. Good clean break is easy to make happen then.

Gunsmithing Q to the gunsmiths about gunsmith school

Re: Q to the gunsmiths about gunsmith school I went through that program back in 2001, and I can tell you if he follows the chambering method they were teaching at that time you have about a 50% chance of having a good accurate rifle. Precision rifle building is not the forte of that school...

    Gunsmithing Rifle Balance

Re: Rifle Balance Most of my rifles regardless of type balance right about 2" ahead of the front action screw. I like the weight just a bit forward. My SXS shotgun balances right at the pivot pin.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Strongest 10MM Ammo You've Used - Colt Delta Guys

Re: Strongest 10MM Ammo You've Used - Colt Delta Guys Not a Delta, but still a 1911. I run both Double Tap and my own loads using 12.0 of accurate no 7 behind 180s in my full-size and my commander length. Both are pretty stout but controllable and accurate with regular practice.

What can I replace factory Rem DBM with?

Re: What can I replace factory Rem DBM with? IF I remember correctly the DBM setup from Wyatts fits the factory BDL inlet just fine. I may be mistaken, but I don't believe you can go to a BDL from factory DBM very easily.

Gunsmithing Cutting your own quality barrel and saving money?

Re: Cutting your own quality barrel and saving money? I have the capability to profile my own blanks, and very very rarely do so. The cost difference between an unturned blank and a contoured blank is so little it isn't worth it. The last one I contoured was because I was looking to...
