Good thread guys! Graham and Greg. You guys have me re-thinking my 22" 10 twist barrel
for a 400 yrd 06 Elk rifle. Now 25-26" seems to have a certain appeal now. I like to have the
deck stacked in my favor :)
I'm collecting the components for a '06 build. It will be my Elk rifle - shooting 180-190 gr bullets to 400 yds.
I'm going with a Bartlien #4 at 22" with 10 twist. I will probably have the smith flute the barrel.
Sorry, I lost focus after the first few paragraphs. There are an amazing array of ways people can hurt each other and themselves with a firearm. It isn't worth your worry unless you are trying to bang the woman in question :-)

I have been between job since June 28. So I've been enjoying Ezra Brooks.
I got a job offer last week, so I'm slooooowly upgrading. Lol Jim Beam for now .
Once I get a check, I will be upgrading.
Better solution! I shoot all over the world, including polar regions. Franks idea was a bit limiting.
The other thing that worries me is night shooting when the moons gravitational influence comes into
play ELR.
i use 300 yards for my 243 ai and 338lm. And I have good scopes. It all depends on the UKDs you shoot at (IMO) .
My perspective is a situation where i have 2-5 seconds to adjust for elevation and the distance is unknown.
i own 3 surgeons. The 591 runs out of room (mag length) pretty fast. Surgeon gave you the straight poop.
If you want to shoot the heavies, the 1086 is a better answer from EITHER builder.
If Dana was a jackass he would still be the go to for hundreds of long range shooters. He's nice beyond all need.
I wont let anyone else build my next rifle.
Jack how you doing? I got shoulder surgery a week ago. looking forward to sending a few down range with you, and your boy!
