    Should I Be Upset?

Mcfred, youre saying my blanket statements don't help but you also ask him if his savage shoots or not? Pretty much what j suggested him to do; find out if he can load for it instead of worrying it's throated long. And go to the reloading section. There's two different threads in page 1 right...

    Should I Be Upset?

Longer OAL = more powder, less throat erosion (supposedly) from bullets hitting lands harder you can still develop accurate loads. Youre supposed to experiment with seat depths up to .120" off the lands but were normally finding loads way before that. Take a look about load development for...

    Should I Be Upset?

Long jump doesn't degrade accuracy. Do proper load development loaded to magazine length and you'll be fine. Its a huge myth that you have to be close or near the lands for accuracy. That's not why we try to load as long as possible

What's causing these ES numbers? Help me analyze, please

Stop devildog. If it ain't broke, don't fix it lol... seriously. Go shoot your load at distance to verify. Try 300 yards for groups, further if able but 300 should be a good distance.

What's causing these ES numbers? Help me analyze, please

Glad your issue is fixed at least. Ensure your groups are 1/2nmoa or better. chronon#'s alone don't cut it. Two thing to consider: drafts when weighing (AC, excessive movement) double check weights (completely taking off and back on) AFTER final trickling. Don't trickle up to weight and put...

Did you ensure all grains were out of the cases or just do a blind dump?

Gunsmithing Viper vise on receiver hitch

Dave, MDF99 is helping me with that. Do not have the capabilities to weld or anything. He had the same planned that you mentioned; linked an accurateshooter article. Local metal shop here can supply cut tubing but that's it. No fabrication. Still working on design dimensions . Thought about...

How to tell when barrel is shot out?

Yes; that's a huge misconception too about handloading.. you DO NOT have to be close to the lands for best accuracy. That's pure bullshit. You can have a long jump and still make great loads. You can be seated deep in the case and have great loads. People load to get close to the lands...

How to tell when barrel is shot out?

And I just zoomed into your papers... you used 40.0 grains of IMR 4350 for the 2-17-15 load development but then you have H4350 at 44.0 grains for the 3-25-17? so.... gotta explain that one then

How to tell when barrel is shot out?

Ryan, depending on on how many rounds you have you can re do load development. part of thing people forget is when they seat longer (significantly longer) + are dealing with throat erosion you HAVE TO re do charge weights. You're changing pressure in there and out of a node. My 260'rem...

Neck Turning - Minimum Wall Thickness

Bearnaked, take 10 pieces and tube mic then like shoot4fun said. Most likely case is since youre neck turning, might as well even them all out. Find the thickest , thinnest and get an average. Make sure you hit them with the expander mandrel first before measuring

    Grip-n-Pull bullet puller?

Yes it will. I use the Hornady collet bullet puller. Takes a bit of experience to develop a good pull without scratching or marking bullets too bad. Depending on inside of your neck it'll either leave a fresh polish after pulling or scratch it up. Either way mostly cosmetic I believe

Well Dave, glad i I only spent 20 bucks on this piece of metal. Cant even drill straight holes!!! Plus side is it still mounts to the truck and I can still put my vise on it.. gonna have to google some ideas about mounting a press and other things. Saw this cool aftermarket trailer hitch...
