How many rounds does it take to work up a load?

Re: How many rounds does it take to work up a load? My thoughts are a little different-- I look at load workup as the fun part! I love changing a variable to see what happens, and then verify again. Perhaps I'm just strange. :-)

    Maggie’s ATF seizes airsoft guns

Re: ATF seizes airsoft guns Things don't have to make sense-- I'm a firearms instructor for a .gov, and beginning this year management is not going to allow me to use any live fire in the week-long Weapons and Tactics course. It will be done using airsoft. Maybe simunitions, but I doubt it.

    Brass prices?

I've heard from several that scrap brass price is approaching $2/lb. Is this a localized market thing, or a nationwide trend? I have my scrap bucket, but for upwards of $2/lb, I may forgo all the prep I do on the brass I sell, and even sell off the extra prepped brass I already have. I...

What kind of reloader are you using?

Re: What kind of reloader are you using? Dillon 650 for the handgun and .223, Forster Coax for higher caliber rifles. XTR, I use a two step process for the .223. The first time I run them through the Dillon 650 is to resize and deprime (the auto-feeder is awesome!). After trimming on the...

    Brass Cleaning

Re: Brass Cleaning Although the rotary tumbler may be for rocks, every person I've shown my results has bought one. I only use the stainless pins for the 338LM-- everything else only gets the Dawn dishwashing liquid and Lemishine. I dry the cases in a food dehydrator (and it works like a...

    Worst Reloading Mistakes

Re: Worst Reloading Mistakes Began by loading 100 .40 with my 650. Tested them in my Glock 23-- no problem. Loaded 4000 .40, then tried to shoot them out of my Kahr-- they would not even chamber! Glocks have a much looser chamber than just about anyone else. I had to reset my 650 with a...

Re: .40 cal I shoot 165gr rounds-- I'm not going for distance, so the lighter rounds are fine.

Check me before I wreck me please **UPDATE**

Re: Check me before I wreck me please As far as the tumbler, I use the rotary tumbler, and will never go back. Although I do have the stainless media, I only use it for my .338lm and .308 cases. Everything else gets only dawn dishwashing liquid and lemishine. My handgun brass comes out...

A question about brass for sale

Re: A question about brass for sale Mr. Kirk-- unfortunately, my trimmer also chamfers and deburs (Giraud) at the same time, so that would not be an option I could do. Thanks for all the encouraging words. For now, we may just stay with the washed/polished. That seems to be the general...

A question about brass for sale

Re: A question about brass for sale Please understand-- I am not soliciting to sell the brass here, only getting some valuable feedback (which has been given-- and thanks!). As for the child labor laws, I do hope you're kidding. :-) This is something we do together. I'm not worried in the...

A question about brass for sale

No, I'm not offering to sell any here. I have a question: Some of you know I have a daughter with cerebral palsy. Although she can't do a lot of what a typical teenager can do, we have found she loves to help me in my reloading room. I purchase buckets of mixed brass, and she separates the...

    Need a case tumbler

Re: Need a case tumbler And keep in mind with the rotary tumbler, you don't have to use the stainless media. I only use it for my .308 and .338. All others I just use Dawn and Lemishine. As for drying, I use a food dehydrator-- set it and forget it.

Re: Need a case tumbler Make sure you read the thread on the stainless steel media. I went with a rotary tumbler, and all my brass comes out as shiny as new. I sold my vibratory tumbler.

Reloading kit or self chose combination?

Re: Reloading kit or self chose combination? A kit is one manufacturers list of things they think you need. I just got started in reloading, and by reading, shopping online, asking the right questions and buying right the first time, I have a great setup. I'm still procuring one piece at a...

Anyone try 175 SMK over 46gr Varget?

Re: Anyone try 175 SMK over 46gr Varget? I went up to 46gr Varget, TRG-22, CCI 200 primers, 2.920 COAL and RP brass. No pressure signs at all, either on the brass, primers or the bolt operation. I was just losing accuracy, so I didn't go any higher. I got .25 MOA from 42.8-43.5. So, I've...
