Who is running a .223 out to 1000yrds?

pointed 82 berger at 2910...matches my 6.5x47 to 800, and is only .2 mils more wind at 1000. I'm supersonic to something like 1200. If all distance targets had impact indicators (flashers), I'd run it in a match exclusively. I shoot the same bullet at 3010 out of my 223ai, and it does even better.

Texas Precision Rifle Club 9/20 match

All - The Texas precision rifle club will have it's monthly match at Cawthon Cartridge Club on 9/20/2014. Expect a friendly environment, an excellent course of fire, and plenty if help for the new guys! We average 60-80 rounds for the entire course of fire, but bring 100 rounds to be safe...

    .308 155gr options

200-300 yards won't matter at all. If I was only shooting 308, and only shooting inside of 500 yards, I would be happy enough with any 155 bullet...or any 168,175,185,208 class match grade bullet. At that distance, you're good to go with just about any match grade bullet. 800+ and I'm taking...

10 twist is fine, but that bullet is...less than ideal in the BC department. Great deer bullet, terrible long range bullet.

    .308 155gr options

2156 at 2825-2850 via 8208 xbr and a 20" Rock barrel with a 95 Palma chamber. 155 scenar at 2880 via 8208 xbr and a 22" benchmark barrel with a 308 match chamber. Both shot great, the 2156 took a little more work but I found the bullet liked to jump a long way, and was more accurate. I now...

    .308 155gr options

.308 155gr options 2156 (Sierra 155 Palma) is a great bullet, similar in bc to the 155 scenar, and loves to jump a mile. I would rather shoot the 2156 than the scenar, as I found them to be more accurate.

    6x45 Bolt Gun

I built one, and achieved the velocity that I wanted (2880-2900) with 95 smk's via 8208 xbr. Cool little round, but my 223 with pointed 82 bergers, or 80.5 fullbores offered better performance and increased accuracy. The advantage to the 6x45 is heavier bullets, forming cases is a breeze, and...

Remington 9 1/2 Large Rifle Primer Misfires

I'd bet money that the shooter is using a Timney or other aftermarket trigger that reduces the firing pin spring power. Otherwise, it's an issue of no seating the primers properly. I had misfire after misfire with Tula 7.62 primers, which are tough as nails, on a surgeon/Timney combo...

6.5x47 Lapua 123 Scenar Varget max load ??

I run 123 smk's with 38.2gr varget out of 26" Bartlein and a thunderbeast 30p-1. I run wolf magnum primers because they are consistent and have a very hard cup. As of this weekend, I have 150 rounds on the gun and the Magnetospeed shows that I am at 2960fps. My Trued up velocity is more like...

    New Build - 223 vs 223AI

Aaron Roberts built my original 223 on a 6.5 twist brux, and then re-barreled it to 223ai on a brux 7 twist when I got 5k rounds on the original 223 barrel. You definitely picked a great gunsmith, and I am proud to shoot for AND with him. His work is excellent. I get 100 fps gain by going...

Rifle Scopes Ring suggestions for S&B

Like Rob said, make sure you get the 1" height Seekins rings if you go that route. I bought the lows, and they didn't allow clearance for the erector assembly and my pic rail. I'd also look at the Spuhr rings, not the one piece mount. They are extremely well made, and sit just low enough.

    Huber 2 stage triggers.

I have three, and I really like them. The clincher, for me, was that it is a sealed unit...which saved my bacon in New Mexico last year. I saw a few triggers go down as a result of the dust/sand/wind combo, but the Huber never had a problem. I've also pierced three primers with no negative...

Suppressors Suppressor help for a someone new to suppressors

Around 3/4" with loads that I just threw together without much thought, which is what had me scratching my head the most. I took it back to the gunsmith and we checked to make sure that everything was tight on the gun, that my S&B hadn't died, that the threads were cut to TBAC specs, and...

Suppressors Suppressor help for a someone new to suppressors

I shoot a 30p-1 on my 223ai, and originally had terrible results when fireforming...I'm talking 1.5moa+ groups. I checked the threads, and they were cut to TBAC specs by an excellent gunsmith, so I put an SWR Omega 300 on the rifle and had the same results. I checked for baffle strikes, I...

    .223 AI Gunsmith Recommendations

He didn't modify the feedramp in any way, he did chamfer the feeding area of the barrel/chamber area....I don't know what you call it, sorry. No pics, I would have to pull the barrel off to get them.
