    What is going on??!!

If you have no lube built up inside, it's quite possible that your 'correctly' sized cases were actually short to begin with. Not all brass 'springs back' to the same extent as the previous case, or the case being fired after. Did you measure them before you sized them? What are you using to...

What would be the best "third string" powder for .338 Lapua

VV-165, VV-170 and VV-N570 would be three, as well as RL-25. You don't say the bullet weight that you shoot, which is a problem with suggesting powders. I stick with the 250s and VV-165 and VV-170 are my go to powders, along with H-4831sc. Chris

OCW SMK 77 and CFE 223

Nice shooting and write-up. Can't help you with the suppressor, or the hot weather coming soon, but I would load up a box of 50 rounds and go 10 rds of 24.0grs, 10 rds of 24.2grs, 15 rds of 24.4grs and 15 rds of 24.6grs, shooting 5 shot groups at 100yds to see what you see. Or any variation of...

    Ceramic paste huh?!?

I think that what Frank is trying to impart to your way of thinking is the fact that 'what if...' you could get another ~2000 rounds of accurate fire out of that barrel that you're going to replace after only 3000 rounds? Wouldn't another 67% of barrel life be worth the minimal effort, even...

    Good Loads for .338 Lapua?

Sniper's Hide Reloading Depot There's a lot of reloading info in the Reloading Depot linked above and if you were to look through the first 10 pages of the Reloading Forum, which might take a few minutes at most, you'll find even more info. I shoot the 250s, so I'm not a lot of help with the...

    Bullet weight and barrel length

Bullet length, or rather bearing surface length, is what matters, so an appropriate 'twist' is in order. Faster/slower burning powders will also matter, in barrel length. Barrels of the same width/diameter, favor the shorter barrel due to the shorter barrel being a tad 'stiffer.' Chris

Redding Competition Shellholder Sets (for headspace adj. w/o going the bushing die route)

Just an easier way, if you're using a single stage press, to affect headspace without having to readjust the die. Time saver. I use a Dillon 550b, so they don't help me out much. Chris

Need a good starting point for savage 10fcp

I started out with my 10FP and McM A3 back in '05 and shot the usual bullets from 150gr SMKs up to 185 Scenars, through it. I'd buy a few types, including the 168gr SMKs (as long as you're not shooting at 1k yards) and see what you see. It took my rifle a good 700 rounds to settle in and 3300+...

    CCI Primers

So you're getting a spread of .0015". That's about HALF the thickness of a typical piece of printer paper, so not much. I'd be more inclined to believe that it's the primer pockets, or a combination of the two. Chris

Anyone using a Lee Powder Measure on a Dillon RL550?

I use the Dillon PM that came with my 550b. 19 years and it still works fine. I bought the newer version some 4 years back, to use for Lg/Sm powder bars, but never did set it up that way. I guess, it's a spare? Chris

    options for measuring chamber?

A 300WM can burn through a throat somewhat quickly, so you might want to go a few clicks below the SAAMI maximum, if you believe that it matters. I shoot a TRG-42 in 338LM and I go a few ticks past the minimum with nary a problem. As long as you're not getting gas blow-by on your necks, or...

    options for measuring chamber?

Well, Sinclair does make those chamber/neck length gages, which evidently work pretty well, so those would be my first choice for you. Me personally? I just let my necks grow out past 2.015" (SAAMI max for the .308Win) on my Savage LE2b and then I measure the mouths after sizing and...

.338 Norma mag. vs .338 Lapua mag. (accuracy)

There's more than one way to skin a cat, but the 338LM is almost ubiquitous these days and while brass is expensive at ~$250/100ct, I'm on between 12-13 cycles on most of my 80/20 Lapua/Norma cases that I started out with back in February of '06. Granted, I haven't shot tons over the past few...

.338 Norma mag. vs .338 Lapua mag. (accuracy)

Ehhh. Look around for your answers. I'm a LM shooter and therefore biased, but just look at how popular the 338LM's gotten, in just the last year? 338NM, not so much so. There's always going to be 'better' right around the corner, but at some point, most people have to draw the line and go...

Talk me out of buying a small base sizing die

I bought a Redding SB 223 body die off of our 'used gear' site a couple of years back and loaded up a box of 50 rounds. The SB die squeezed the body in to the point where I was getting gas blow-by on all of the case bodies proper and not just a little bit, in a Bushmaster upper. That was...

    208 A-Max in stock

Welll, when PowderValley has them in stock, they're $29.79. I'm just saying, as somebody who's been a loyal Midway customer nice Feb. of '95, they're not so great on pricing any longer. PowderValley generally beats them on price, on reloading components. Chris
