    Gunsmithing ROMAK Kit Build

Re: ROMAK Kit Build AGI makes a DVD on how to do the whole process. It would probably be a worthwhile purchase. After watching it, I am going to buy pre-bent receivers. One less headache.

    Gunsmithing Sandblasting 101 anyone?

Re: Sandblasting 101 anyone? One bad thing about SB cabinets is that they need a LOT of air flow. I tried using my small compressor but it just didn't cut it. I just bought a big one. I saved money (probably about $1500-2000)by building the cabinet (I wanted one big enough for a car bumper).

Weapons failed US troops during Afghan firefight

Re: Weapons failed US troops during Afghan firefight This is an issue of cyclic rate versus sustained rate of fire. The sustained rate of fire is really low, because when weapons fire lots of rounds for extended periods they melt. Melted weapons don't work so well. Doesn't matter what make...

Gunsmithing bore indicating on a lathe

Re: bore indicating on a lathe Gordy just runs the saddle back and forth instead of using two indicators. Saves him about $170. I use the range rod and a dial indicator initially. Once I get close I switch to the test indicators. I find that using the dial indicator initially saves...

I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of plastic guns (Glock, etc) being used in the sandbox and issues directly related to sand interacting with plastic. Our range is one big sandbox and the mags in particular aren't very happy with it. Lots of malfunctions related to it. A couple of speed...

Gunsmithing What do you guys feel about Hand-Crowning?

Re: What do you guys feel about Hand-Crowning? I used one of the aforementioned hand crowners as recommended in the book "Accurizing the Factory Rifle". I modified it per the author's instructions. Despite my best efforts, I got a lot of chatter. It did not help the rifle shoot any better...
