    Accuracy, me or the rifle?

Adjustable comb height is easy, there's several options out there that will work for the stock you have. $25 plus shipping will get you an adjustable cheek rest from XLR Industries (Kyle is good people, BTW). Drill 2 holes in the stock, purchase 2 stainless 2 1/4" 1/4-20 screws from the hardware...

Help case stuck in bullet puller

Skip ordering a new chuck, you don't need it. I have that same inertia puller and threw the chuck away years ago, use the appropriate case holder for the cartridge in place of the chuck. It holds better and you don't have to worry about a 10 cent o-ring breaking and putting your puller out of...

    Removing Cerakote

I've tried numerous chemical strippers to remove Cerakote as well, haven't found anything yet that will remove it except blasting it off. I powdercoat as a profession and have access to some absolutely nasty chem strippers, nothing I have will remove Cerakote. Some of the stuff I have will...

    6x45mm vs 6.5 Grendel

If you're building a new upper anyways, I'd go with the 6x6.8 over either the Grendel or the 6x45. The 6x45 can push 87gr Bergers over 2900fps, but they are singe load only. I was able to push 87gr Hornady BTHP's around 2900 with 8208XBR from a 24" barrel in LC brass, loaded to 2.34" IIRC. I...

Stiller AW action & AAC 260 barrel self assemble “build” LOL

If they were smart, but they screwed the pooch on that. I've been nothing but happy with my AAC barrel, especially considering the MV's even after cutting it to 20" are in line with what a lot of guys get with 3-4" more barrel.

    260 Loads Only

Went out on a quest for some H4350 Saturday morning, but ended up with 3 pounds of R17 instead. One place a half hour away had (and still has) gobs of 4350, but the guy who owns the place is a complete ass and tends to hire the same. My local guy had R17 and actually appreciates my business...

    WOA barrel outperforms sierra data

Happens a lot. I've beaten published data by well over 100fps with my 6x45, but it's a 3 groove polygon rifled barrel. My 20" 260 is running 2718fps (confirmed at 600) with 140's and 43gr of H4350. Hodgdon lists a MAX of 44.5gr for 2735 with 142's from a 24" barrel. It's possible that the next...

    Starting a new load

R17 has a funky pressure curve in my experience, pressure comes on hard and fast with one load being fine then pronounced pressure signs a couple tenths of a grain higher. In my 260 it went from perfectly fine pressures to having to beat the bolt open within .5gr once I got to MAX. Trying an...

How do you tumble your brass?

Decap Tumble in SS pins/Lemishine/hot water/Dawn dry in toaster oven at 175 (only if I'm in a hurry) anneal if needed Lube and size Toss in the vibratory with corncob media to remove lube and polish

    Hornady bushing die

Without the bushing, you won't be sizing the neck. You'll only be bumping the shoulder and sizing the body. To see which bushing you need, just measure a loaded round at the neck and subtract .002". Buy that size bushing and one smaller just to be safe.

Chambering Issue When Neck Sizing Lapua Rem 260 Cases

I agree with the guys above that it sounds like you're going to have to turn the necks on that Lapua brass. You don't need to take off much, maybe turn the necks down to .0135-.014" which is the same as RP 260 brass. Just be aware that sooner or later as the material flows up from the shoulder...

What beam powder scale do you use?

I've got an old RCBS made by Ohaus (no idea on the model #, it isn't on it anywhere) that my FIL gave me. I set my phone up in front of it and use the camera to magnify the reading. Being able to watch the beam move smoothly with a single kernel of R17 tells me they knew how to build these...

Woody's Designated Marksman Match Sponsored By DPMS October 25th Series Finale

Woody, thanks again for opening up your place today to allow some of us to gather some data on our rifles. I know there's not a lot of places around to get out past 2-300 yards for most of us, so it was a huge help to see how my loads were working at a little further distance. I finally found...

    Case neck clearance question

Alright, so I recently had to scrap some of my 260 cases because the primer pockets finally went south. I'll be honest and admit that I'm a bit of a tightwad and am not going to spend $1 per case for Lapua when I get 8-10 pretty damn warm loadings out of RP brass. While I was tossing those in...

Same for the elevation turret. Bottom it out, count the number of clicks to the top, divide it in half and turn it back down that much.

Pupil of the Art of the Tactical Rifle Dot ORG *Video*

I looked like I was mental at the range Saturday, I lost it about 200 yards down range when I saw my shoe coming untied thought about this video. By the time I got to the 300yd line I was almost in tears from laughing. I almost whipped out my phone and videoed the walk back to the bench sloshing...

    Gunsmithing You'll Shoot Your Eye Out. . . .

Good to hear you're on the mend, Chad. I learned to check behind other people a few months ago working on our air supply at the shop. I was PMCS'ing the chiller, dryer, and compressors and decided to clean the cooler on the big compressor as it had powder stuck to it. That thing gets hot and the...

Gunsmithing Your thoughts wanted on new gas block design???

Random thought, and it may be a silly one but may also be worth exploring. The only thing I see that causes any concern is the angles that the halves lock together at. It looks like the notches are machined parallel to each other at 90 degrees, that may or may not allow the block to "grow" and...
