Ar15 raffle for a good cause

Mike it's great of you to do this for a fellow shooter. I checked out both links you put up and it looks like a great group of guys over at Rokslide. I'm glad you posted this on the Hide. In what has to be one of the hardest situations for a family to be in, the last thing they should have to...

    Night Vision Thermal Comparison/Review

Great review guys. Glad to see a diverse comparison done by a variety of people with varying experience. Really gives the new guys like me a little more to think about than just comparing specs off the dealer sites and getting opinions from guys with access to only a few units to compare. The...

Night Vision A great example of a smart Alpha Sow! Viewed with thermal.

I'll check them out whenever you get it up, 14 dead hogs should make for some great footage. If I decide to start with a thermal I will deffinately contact you and any comparisons/reviews you have would be great, it's hard making decisions off of just dealers descriptions and zero hands on...

Night Vision A great example of a smart Alpha Sow! Viewed with thermal.

Great videos, I look forward to watchin each new one you post. Keep em coming. They really have me wanting a W1000 also. I'm new to night vision/thermal but if I ever decide which route I want to go I may PM you with a few questions about the scope if you don't mind.

Night Vision TNV/PVS-4 and Aquila 6x through the tube pics

That's what iv been looking for! Thanks for the comparison pictures. Comparisons like that make decisions a lot easier

Night Vision PVS-4 (Gen 3), PVS-12 Aquila, or D740 - which is better?

I'm trying to decide between the pvs4 gen3 and the Aquila 6x. The specs on TNVCs website show a huge difference in detection ranges. 2400 meters for the Aquila 6x and 800 yards for the pvs4. Even the 4x Aquila which would be a closer comparison to the pvs4 is still 1500 meters. If anyone...

Maggie’s What are you drinking right now!?

Good stuff. I'm enjoying one right now and it's looking like some arrogant bastard ale and popcorn suttons in the near future.

Curious question about measuring length from ojive

I understand the ID measurement and ID of the groves but I am not familiar with the term leade angle. Just guessing but it seems that the lands are cut at an angle, coming out of the chamber at the .308 groove ID and tapering to the absolute ID. Is this correct? If so that would better...

Curious question about measuring length from ojive

Nope that's how I look at it too... Untill the throat starts wearing out. But as far as that goes if you had a bushing cut to the same diameter of your lands it would be fine but that's kinda besides the point, as long as you realize your not measuring where the bullet touches the lands, but...

Curious question about measuring length from ojive

No problem like I said I really had a hard time understanding it after several people explained it to me as the comparator measured from right where the bullet touched the barrel. It just didn't make sense that I should have to measure each style of bullet but that's defiantly the case. Glad it...

Curious question about measuring length from ojive

I sure will when I get time. My current job has pretty much haulted my reloading and shooting. I make it home maby twice a month for a day or two at a time and with everything else I usually don't make it to the reloading bench. But ive been down here almost a year now so hopefully soon I get...

Curious question about measuring length from ojive

I had this same question a while ago and went through the same thing thinking that because I was using the comparator to measure the ogive (which I thought was the exact spot on the bullet where it would contact the lands of the barrel) that as long as I used the comparator that I would be...

APA Gen II Fat Bastard & Little Bastard

Has anyone that's got these already got out and used them? I was hoping to hear how they do. Seems like a great idea and especially for anything you plan on burning up a barrel or two, it should pay for itself real fast just in the cost of having a gunsmith time another brake. Now just...

Remington Action SAUM size vs. .308 SA size

Yes. I have a 300 saum and just got a stock for a SA. If I'm correct their the exact same receiver just a different bolt face and mag box and follower. The barrel contour is different tho. If your going from a factory rifle in saum I believe it's a magnum sporter contour which is slightly...

    338 lapua loads

First off welcome to the Hide. Unfortunately I have zero info on the 338 but if you go to the Reloading Depot there is a thread stickied on 338-.50 cal rifles. I don't have anything that size so haven't really read through it but I glanced through it and a lot seems to be for the 338. There is...

    Gunsmithing 220 Swift for 90 gr VLD's.

And thanks to everyone for the info it really is all appreciated. Even if it's not what iv got planned I'm all ears, there's tons of experience here and I like seeing what works and what doesn't from people that have been there and tried it

    Gunsmithing 220 Swift for 90 gr VLD's.

Dale, were all of the other guns that didn't give you issues 1:7 also and the 22-6mm imp just happened to be a fluke? or were the other guns slower twists and it would seem that the 1:7 is too fast for the 75s? Also did you do any shooting or load work with anything heavier such as the 90s...

    Gunsmithing 220 Swift for 90 gr VLD's.

Iv heard their hell on barrels and between that and me already having dies and brass for 22-250 an extra 100-150 fps didn't seem worth it since im not trying to push it as fast as possible but is there something about the case design that would allow it to more easily or accurately shoot heavies?
