Newbie reloader question - Lapua .308 case capacity

Thanks for the input guys; I had it in my mind that compressing a load would increase pressure dangerously. I'll load up the rest and just carefully examine the brass after each shot, which I would be doing anyway of course. Dan, I'm glad you responded - I'm going by the OCW procedure on your...

Newbie reloader question - Lapua .308 case capacity

I'm loading my first batch of .308, decided to try some 155 amax over IMR 4064 in Lapua brass with Remington 9 1/2 primers. COAL is 2.805. My plan was to load a batch with charges weighing 41-45.5 grains, but I got to 43.8 grains and it looks like this will be a compressed load - the powder...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Walther PPQ for my son! Surprised by the gun

My brother picked one of these up a few months ago and really likes it. I'm like you, a 1911 guy but I'll have to say I was quite impressed with the PPQ as well. Very good for a stock trigger, take up was a bit gritty but it comes to a "hard wall" and then breaks crisply and consistently - I...

    Case safe to use?

I really don't have the reloading experience to tell you whether or not that case is good to go. I do have enough life experience to say that I would toss it. Is one piece of brass worth any amount of trouble that may come of it? Not in my opinion.

How many loadings can I expect to gain by neck sizing vs full length sizing?

Can you explain, or point me towards an article that explains "proper" full length sizing? I'm about to start loading .308 and am going to FLS but of course would like to extend brass life as long as possible. Thanks

Any FN SPR owners out there?

Correct. I can't help you out with the cheekpiece question though, I bought an A1 model specifically because it didn't come with a cheekpiece. I'm planning on sending mine off to have KMW loggerhead adjustable hardware installed.

First day with my new FN SPR

SWFA SS 10x that I already had. Can't decide if I want to dump the cash for a Bushnell ERS right now.

First day with my new FN SPR

I picked up my SPR A1 yesterday that I ordered from Mike @ Tac Cord. This is my first centerfire precision rifle; I've got a savage MK II TR that I bought to get started in bolt gun shooting about a year ago. Great day at the range today - it was 67 F when I got to the range at 8:00 am...

    manners stocks customer service brag

Glad to hear they are going to get you fixed up, still haven't heard anything negative about Manners. I'm in Ft. Worth too, what type of precision rifle matches are there in this area (I'm just starting to shoot rifles long range)?

    LETS SEE your reloading setup

BapZander, any more pics of that setup, looks exactly like what I would like to build. What material is the bench top?

    What else do I need?

I've got my first precision bolt gun on order and it will be here in a couple weeks and I need to get set up to reload rifle cartridges (.308 mostly). I've got a Lee classic turret press, which is what I'll have to use until I get my hands on a Co-Ax. I've also got a priming tool, case cleaning...

Rifle Scopes If Santa comes early....

Whereabouts in Tx are you? I hear good things about the PST (and their other lines as well) but have never seen/used a Vortex. I do have a fixed 10x SWFA SS and like it a lot; they also recently released a 3-15x version for $700, so that may be something you are interested in. True, neither...

Most cost effective way to obtain an for sure accurate rifle.

Rem 700 5r isn't far from $1k new, usually right under if you buy used. I'm in the same boat as you though, been saving for quite some time for my first long range precision rifle. I chose .308, and if you don't reload that is the best option. I take the buy once, cry once philosophy - I...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Z-Lock HDMR scopes not even in-country yet...

I'm pretty sure that Z-Lock = zero stop and T-Lock = locking turrets; the ERS and XRS which feature both of these things are in stock at many dealers

Rifle Scopes Whats a Bushnell elite tactical et45305gz worth?

Call CS tactical, sport optics, liberty optics, or cameraland NY and ask for the Snipers Hide price, the price they quote you will be a good price for the XRS.

Fn spr for Leo sniper if not what you suggest?

I don't have a lot to add because I have yet to have any first hand experience (ordered my A1 a few days ago from Tac Cord, been drooling over and saving for one for over a year now), but I can tell you a bit of what I know from the research I've done. The main difference is the cheekpiece and...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Best 1911 on the market...?

I'll echo what some others here have said - "best" is a custom made by Harrison, Volkmann, Heirloom, etc etc etc. Best for the money IMO - Dan Wesson If I was going for a sub $1000 gun, I'll take a Colt. Springfield and Sig make nice guns too but having played with numerous examples of all...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 magazines

I like Tripp and Wilson, in that order.

Rifle Scopes Any value in sticking with a consistent manufacturer?

I like the idea of similar optics across a collection of rifles, one less variable to think about when you shoot lots of different guns - for instance uniformity in turret adjustment direction, clicks per rev, reticles etc
