    Varget is a bitch to deal with in my chargemaster at any rate. It will throw 4 or 5 good ones then 3 or 4 over. Good powder, but that's the price you pay. Has the OP tried other powders with the same result?

    question on AR/Varget load?

    I loaded up some 60 gr. Sierra varmint bullets with the 23.8 gr. load. First group was .4 inch. Rifle likes the 60-gr. bullets... Have to find some vmax. Those little .22 flat-base bullets are a pain to load. I'll save the 69 gr. SMK for predators or hogs. Thanks all.

    I found a guy on ARFCom touting a 25.6 gr. Varget load for a 69 gr. SMK claimed to be .35 in his RR Predator Pursuit, one of which I have.     Eliminate one thing at a time. If it has a brake or flash suppressor or whatever, take it off and shoot a few and see if you have any changes. As above, you didn't give much info. Is it keyholing every shot or just occasionally? I know it is frustrating, but you can sort it out. Good luck...

    I use canned gas to blow as much of the dust and grit as possible off before cleaning. If you rub sand or something similar into the lens, no matter what the cleaner, it will scratch.....

    Amen to that. Find a bullet your rifle will shoot decently and tune your load to it. Buy lots of one kind (when you can find it) and don't have a bunch of little lots of different kinds laying around (like I do).... I like the matchkings, but don't want to hunt with them.
