    Savage Stealth in 6.5 - First impressions

    This seems to be the only factory option for us lefties. I am considering this but will wait till spring in case any other manufacturers provide something. If not, I'll have my first Savage rifle.

    Mega has discontinued their barrels, they will only fulfill the back orders and are not taking new orders. I have gotten several emails from them confirming this.

    Pick a 6,5 Creedmoor Barrel for my M5E1

    $1000.00 for a barrel/bolt/bcg is a lot of money. Theres got to be options almost as good for a good bit less. Also, seems like all the drop in barrels are rifle length gas tubes. Everyone says +2 for 22" barrel but seems manufactures are doing that.

    So Mike, There are 6.5 Creedmore barrels with +2 gas systems and are coming with a bolt. So, guessing that completely avoids that whole problem.

    hand guards with locking tabs, needed or not?

    I have an Armalite compatible upper receiver and I am looking for a hand guard. I can get one from the manufaturer but it does not have locking tabs. Is it necessary to have those tabs (building a 6.5C) or not that important?

    thoughts on putting 1 scope ring on forearm=effecting accuracy

    I thought the problem with putting 1 ring on the receiver and 1 on the forearm was that the two different pieces move/flex when shot and put torque on the scope tube (risking damage to the scope).

    New Addition! Mega MA-TEN Megalithic

    Interested to see how that shoots. My next AR will be something very similar to that but I was thinking the Rainier 20" Ultra Match barrel with their Nickel BCG and a SWFA 3.-15 scope.

    Not sure why the world thinks they need sound loudening devices on AR's (AR's recoil very little) but nice setup.
