Well, I've been on the fence for a year or so wanting to build a MATEN monolothic 308 but couldn't bring myself to pay the going rate for an upper on gunbroker. Fast forward to last week, I pulled the trigger on one of the new megalithic upper/lower set from Rainer Arms.

Build list is as follows...
Mega Arms MATEN Megalithic upper/lower receiver set
Rainer Arms Match Barrel 20" 1:10 twist
Magpul UBR stock in grey
JP Enterprises low mass chrome carrier and enhanced bolt
JP enterprises muzzle brake
Heavy buffers carbine buffer, spring and tube
CMMG lower parts kit
Geissele SSA-E trigger

Still not certain on glass or mount, so any help here would be great! I'll be shooting out to 300 yrds regularly and to 1000yrds as the opportunity presents itself. Target only, no hunting at this point.

American defense mount or Bobro?
Viper Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 FFP or ???? In the $600-800 range.

Pics later this week as parts start arriving!

Cheers,
Jon

The 2.5-10 is great on AR's. I rocked one with the ADM mount on my SPR build and went out to 905yds with zero issues.

Looks like an awesome list man, I have had a 5.56 mega lower sitting in the safe for about 8 months, I think I want to buy that megalithic upper real soon. Please let us know how you like it.

Wow that is a sweet looking rifle. How does she shoot?

Shoots fairly well, but unfortunately I've only had it out a couple of days to sight in the scope...which I've since changed out the mount. I did have to tune the adjustable gas block to get it to cycle.

I'll check the weight tomorrow and let ya know.

Because muzzle brakes help lessen recoil. They also help you to spot your own shots at distance when you are in a compromised shooting position. Why do people feel the need to buy firearms, hammers and pitch forks worked just fine with no recoil.
