Is this receiver set DPMS or Armalite?

I recently purchased this Matrix Aerospace Corp. receiver set from a small LGS who told me it was a DPMS pattern receiver set, but after doing a bit of research on the interwebs it looks like it might be Armalite based on the angle near the buffer tube. Can anyone help me confirm?

Matrix has an Armalite like design but never tried to mate to an actual Armalite though so not 100% sure it exactly same. However, the uppers can be had with either a DPMS or Armalite thread pattern. And the "Armalite" thread upper should come with a barrel nut (DPMS not).

I got curious about these and looked them up. They apparently make most of the Ruger uppers and lowers. If you look at this older one on the Gunbroker, http://www.gunbroker.com/item/639805159, it says use AR10 LPK. This statement in the ad is deceptive. Looking at it again, they're saying it takes DPMS and Magpul magazines. You would have to buy an AR10 "A" model LPK. B models use the older M14 based mags.

And there are people stating they made an AR10A lower which will take the SR25 mags on another forum. Yours looks like their DPMS to me, it should come with takedown pins based on the info on their website. They sell rails on the website as well. They come with barrel nuts. Without testing with a bolt hold open or barrel nut? I guess you could put a Magpul magazine in it and see if the latch lines up.

Thanks for the replies guys. I heard back from Matrix and they confirmed it is a DPMS set, although they also make Armalite sets as well. There is a small dimple engraved above the gas port on the DPMS sets and the Armalite does not have a dimple. I'm definitely excited to get this build going!

If a DPMS (or most other 308 AR) barrel nut will screw on, it's what Matrix calls DPMS pattern. But the fitment of the upper to lower is still Armalite. DPMS style is more rounded like someone else stated. They do make the Ruger 762 receivers which take SR25 pattern mags (DPMS, Pmag, etc). I'm not aware that they make a lower that takes the old Armalite mags but could be wrong. Even Armalite has moved away from those. Don't buy one of these lowers thinking you can swap your older Armalite uppers on. It doesn't work.

A question I do have is, with an Armalite upper, does it matter if the barrel says DPMS.
i was on some sites where they say the barrel is DPMS but I was under the impression that the only thing an Armalite is, is a different shape, different thread pitch (different barrel nut) and take down pins.
I wouldn't think the barrel would be effected by either dpms or armalite

You will get a lot of opinions on this. I think a lot of people still believe that DPMS barrel extensions are made in the left Twix factory and Armalites by the right Twix factory. You can change the barrels if you use the correct nut and headspace the bolt. You can even use an Armalite bcg on a DPMS barrel. Only difference is in the gas system of the carbine/mid gas .308 barrels. DPMS uses AR15 middy length and Armalite is proprietary.

So Mike,
There are 6.5 Creedmore barrels with +2 gas systems and are coming with a bolt. So, guessing that completely avoids that whole problem.

+2 or longer gas systems have been around since guys started using large frame ARs for highpower matches, afaik. And sure, if it comes with a bolt, like from JP, you know it's headspaced. The only reason I mentioned the Armalite is that it already has a smaller diameter firing pin which avoids cratering on the primer with 6.5s. People are buying complete BCGs and then going and buying a "high pressure" bolt when they could have spent $257 any day of the week and been done. Just don't mix bolts and carriers.
