1126 Yard Shot with Mosin Nagant.....Iron Sights

What's up with the holes in the plate? Are brown bear steel core? I shot some 3/8" mild plate with some Fed. M1 Garand at 1K and it just puts a dimple. Nice shooting btw ;-)

Come on guys, put your hate aside and give me/us some details. How's the wind? Did Frank have a big gulp at 250 when he was checking his 500 target? ;-)

Sniper’s Hide Cup 2014 Hide Cup Rifle from LRI

Excellent job Chad and gang! I really love the PERFECT fit of the tang, ejection port and the tight bolt handle recess on the stock. Can't get any better ;-) Not sure how many appreciate it but I sure do! Next year you need to step it up a notch and get Lynn to 2 tone the bbl engraving. JK it...

Gunsmithing HELP Standard practice on cutting springs?

I got lucky and nabbed a few boxes from a shop liquidation off ebay. Wolff is the best game around these days. They make a small spring assortment that is great for firing pins and extractors etc. Last stuff I got from brownells was disappointing.

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 extractor type

A further defense of Sako extractors ;-) Years ago working at McBride's we had a Sako 25-06 come in that someone fired a 308 in :-0 I know it's not the same scenario as a 700 but interesting just the same. Don't know how the bullet managed to clear the bore but it did. Case head separated...

    Gunsmithing .22 Rimfire rebarreling/chambering

I haven't been too involved with rimfire match grade rifles so take it FWIW ;-) I've seen some of your stuff (nice work BTW) so I say just do it. Seems the tricks boil down to a good bbl, a match reamer (basically no throat) and AMMO! Lilja caters to the rimfire target crowd with tight bores...

Gunsmithing Brand new 300 win mag, slight extraction issue - advice?

First remove he ejector/spring and make sure the hole is clear. Many times there will be bluing salts or blast media taking up space. An 1/8" drill bit by hand works well. If things look good, try shooting it without the ejector. Then decide if you need to cut the spring ;-)

Gunsmithing HELP Standard practice on cutting springs?

Any decent shop will have a spring assortment. A few minutes digging should turn up just what you need ;-)

Sidearms & Scatterguns Any German Luger experts out there

Does it feed rounds without pushing up on it? Check the catch slot in the mag body to make sure it hasn't been cut or worn. Remove the catch and do the same. People do some stupid stuff to 'em

Do I NEED a new trigger

My point is the Sako had so much play (rattled when he carried it) that he couldn't control it. Put a Harris on and it shot great. ;-) My son is left eye dom. and won't shoot left hand. Had to put tape over the left lens to make things work when he was young.

a look at a new york "arsenal".

Ha Ha! That's some funny stuff there. Guess the 45 was in the couch cushions ;-) “It was enough to arm a small army or militia,” a police source said of the bust. “These guys were ready for war.” Blades aside, it looks like they were getting ready for a war on squirrels. Most of them were...

Do I NEED a new trigger

Stupid question. Is there any play in your bipod? Had a bud with a TRG that shot like crap until he ditched the Sako bipod.
