    Long Rifles Inc., build update.

Re: Look what I got from Chad Dixon today! Very nice. I also like the classic look and you picked a nice scope (I have two of them).

i need a new trigger for my 700

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700 FWIW - I didn't like the Timney I had and will only use Jewell triggers now. I like the HVR version. It can be set for different trigger pull weights (1.5oz to 3.5lb).

Rifle Scopes A <2 lb optic that tracks as consistent as NF NXS

Re: A <2 lb optic that tracks as consistent as NF NXS I have two Sightron SIII 10-50X60 scopes. I believe they are under two pounds each. One is on a 6BR benchrest rifle and the other is on a 338 LM. Never had tracking or any other issues with either one. Currently getting ready to buy #3.

    .338 lapua Magnum primers

Re: .338 lapua Magnum primers For some reason the CCIs did not work well at all for me in my 338 LM. Using the Federals with the same load works great. I was surprised because CCI primers work great in my 6BR benchrest rifle.

.338 Lapua shooters, what's your setup

Re: .338 Lapua shooters, what's your setup I bought a Savage 110 FCP HS Precision after having a custom built last year. The Savage is better than 1/2 MOA and I saved $2,800 by not having another custom built.

Rifle Scopes Awesome news from Sightron

Re: Awesome news from Sightron Good news - I really like the Sightron scopes I have. I just hope they don't figure out that they could be charging more than they do for them.

Budsgunshop order, 11 days after payment and still

Re: Budsgunshop order, 11 days after payment and still I will gladly pay more if I have to and buy locally. Don't have the time or desire to deal with companies that choose to conduct business like this.

    .338 LM vs .308

Re: .338 LM vs .308 I would get a 338 LM. I sold my 308 shortly after I bought the 338. The 308 seemed like a toy and I found myself using the 338 even for shorter range shooting. The previous poster is correct when he says they are VERY different animals.

Rifle Scopes $1000 limit. Long range prairie dogging scope

Re: $1000 limit. Long range prairie dogging scope I sold my Leupold and have since bought two Sightron 10-50X60 scopes. Getting ready to buy a third. I have one on a 6BR benchrest gun, one on a 338 Lapua and the third will go on a .204 Ruger AR. In my opinion you can't have "too much"...

Re: Timney or geissele . I have the Timney and really like it. I also have the RR National match trigger that is nice for a two stage.

    First is off. Why??

Re: First is off. Why?? I bought mine not expecting any better than 1 MOA. I happened to get one that will shoot 1/4 MOA. It's a little like playing the lottery with these. If you want guaranteed accuracy you probably need to go custom.

    First is off. Why??

Re: First is off. Why?? I'm currently shooting a Savage 338 (110FCP HS). It's my first Savage and I bought it knowing that I was risking getting a "dud". Luckily I got a good one. I figured if I got one that didn't shoot I could screw on a top quality pre-chambered barrel and be good to go...

    Savage 338lm 1650,1820 and 2050 yards!!!

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650 AND 1820 YARDS!!! Congratulations - these Savage 338s are amazing rifles. My Savage 338 (110FCP) impresses me every time I use it. My custom rifle has seen very little range time lately

Range Report My Latest Savage Build

Re: My Latest Savage Build VLD bullets are typically very sensitive to seating depth. I used them in my 6br (Krieger barrel) for awhile but have moved on to other bullets (tangent ogive) that have proven to be more accurate in my rifle when shooting at 500 yards or less.

    My first sub-moa group

Re: My first sub-moa group Good shooting! I have found that horizontal stringing can sometimes be caused by inconsistent trigger control (pulling the shot).

    Yup... A cleaning question...

Re: Yup... A cleaning question... FWIW - my rifles shoot best (most accurate) with clean barrels. I completely clean them after every trip to the range. I consider barrels to be consumable items. I shoot them, clean them and I will replace them when they no longer meet my accuracy needs.

    Powder - .338 Lapua?

Re: Powder - .338 Lapua? I experimented with H1000 and Retumbo. Retumbo was clearly the best in my rifle.

338 Lapua X 3!! You gotta love it.

Re: 338 Lapua X 3!! You gotta love it. I hear ya - I've been known to spend more than I had to on rifles. I'm just amazed that a $2,000 Savage is holding its own against a rifle that cost $10,000 more.

    The BUDGET RIFLE picture thread!

Re: The BUDGET RIFLE picture thread! Nice rifle. I bet that thing shoots! I really like the 6br. Wish I knew about it many years ago.
