    Gunsmithing Remington 700 action question

That would be a slick set up with the PTG bolt with the mini 16 extractor!

Gunsmithing Going cheap on a 700 truing

Based on what you have said....it sounds like a problem with one end or another of your barrel. I would have the barrel recrowned locally by a reputable smith. It should not cost much and I wouldn't do anything fancy. If that doesn't fix the problem the problem is either on the barrel itself...

    Gunsmithing Nice Crown

There are exceptions to every rule when it comes to crowns...but I'll take my chances with a nicely cut crown over a hacksaw job anyday.

Quality of Russian milsurp Binos compared to...?

Some of the optics in those are very good. I have an older pair of kronos 20x60's that are quite good. I use the tripod adapter that came with them and they make a great spotting setup. They are heavy!

Rifle Scopes Scoping On The Cheap

Viper1...I have alot of the same thoughts on optics as you. There were an awful lot of rifles scopes with bushnell and redfield and others in Deer camp when I was growing up. The M40a1 era rifles seemed to do quite well with a 3-9 redfield and I promise you they saw alot worse conditions than...

Am I Expecting too Much from my Modified Remington 700?

That is pretty decent accuracy for not having the crown precisely cut. I always look at it this way...the crown is the last thing the bullet touches before it leaves the barrel. Any imperfections there are going to hinder the accuracy for a rifle. There are exceptions to every rule....but...

Late 70's USMC log book - blank unused on given to me by brother in law

I have what I am guessing to be a late 70's early 80's USMC blank log book (unused). It has the green plastic front cover and it is a spiral bound book. My brother in law had a blank one from when he was in the Corp. It is sitting with a bunch of my shooting stuff and I began to wonder...how...

    I need a range finder

Re: I need a range finder I have a bushnell 1500 and it will range rocks and trees well out to 1200-1300 yards. I found that a stable base such as a tripod or monopod really helps it range.

Fans of the Hornady new dimension dies?

Re: Fans of the Hornady new dimension dies? I'll tell you one other secret about Hornady FL resizer. They are cut to much tighter tolerances than RCBS dies. I have a 7mm mag Browning that wouldn't chamber reloads from RCBS dies. I called RCBS and they told me their resizers weren't cut to...

    R700 - Doesn't feel right

Re: R700 - Doesn't feel right I have seen inconsistent loading in many major brands of ammo. This stuff is all produced on machines and all of the machines go out of adjustment from time to time. The biggest thing about handloading is not just the cost savings. Automated powder handling...

Re: THANK YOU, Mark at Storm Tactical!!!! I have to throw my 2 cents in here too. I sent an order in through his website on a Sunday afternoon and he responded later in the afternoon. The guy must work 24 x 7! The stuff I ordered was shipped very fast and I love the data book. I have...

Hunting & Fishing Spotting scope advise

Re: Spotting scope advise Keep your scope and ditch the Manfrotto tripod! Several companies make tripods that have carbon fiber legs. You can probably shave 2-3 pounds off the weight of the tripod you are carrying. I am pretty sure you can take the manfrotto head off and move it over. I...
