    Gunsmithing Question for gunsmiths

Re: Question for gunsmiths If you actually ever go shoot your custom rifle, be sure to soak your panties in kerosene so the ants don't bite your candy ass.

    Bolt Gun Sight in

Re: Bolt Gun Sight in Quick answer.....yes. I don't know by how much. The greater the distance the more off it will probably be. Those rounds probably have different ballistics and therefore will have different trajectories. At 100, 200 yards it probably won't be off much, so if your...

    Rifle Scopes Loctite question

Re: Loctite question I think you want loctite 242. I didn't see it on the home depot link you had, but I'm pretty sure they carry it. It is a thread locker. Don't get any adhesives or epoxies. There are other thread lockers that are permanent so make sure you get 242. I'm use to seeing...

    Good Bore Guide? Which one?

Re: Good Bore Guide? Which one? I use a Possum Hollow bore guide. It works great for me. The only other bore guide I've used was some universal bore guide that cost about $6 at my local gun shop. The jag and patch got stuck in the end of it and it went in the trash on its first use.

Reloading kit or self chose combination?

Re: Reloading kit or self chose combination? There's nothing wrong with the Rock Chucker press. Not sure what the kit consists of. I'm personally a fan of Forster, but Forster is expensive.

Reloading kit or self chose combination?

Re: Reloading kit or self chose combination? I would purchase individual components, but that can be difficult if your new to reloading and haven't developed a preference. Everyone's reloading set up I've seen is a mixture of several brands. Don't worry about making the perfect decision on...

Giraud trimmer factory set at 1.978 for .308?

Re: Giraud trimmer factory set at 1.978 for .308? Either measurement is fine. I'm not familiar with the Speer manual or load data referencing a "trim to" length. People often only trim their brass because it is approaching the max length. Firing and resizing brass increases the length...

    Gunsmithing Choate Stock bipod modification

Re: Choate Stock bipod modification There is a 1/2" steel plate to adjust the comb between the stock and the butt pad (and a nylon spacer to change the length of pull). That one plate weighs more than a pound. I have short arms so I didn't need it. If you can get rid of it its worth it...

Gunsmithing Cutting a Carbon Fiber Tube

Re: Cutting a Carbon Fiber Tube Be very careful. Breathing carbon fiber dust can kill you. I would avoid any sawing and grinding. You could try a tube cutter you can buy at home depot for cutting copper pipe (about $15?). It screws on to the tube and rolls a knife around the tube as you...

    Gunsmithing Choate Stock bipod modification

Re: Choate Stock bipod modification You like your stock? I got mine about 8 years ago before I knew anything about accurate rifles because it looked cool. I butchered mine about a year ago when I really got in to bolt guns and built me a bipod. I'm building a .30-06 on a model 70 action...

Rifle Scopes Looked throug a Vortex viper today, um, no thanks

Re: Looked throug a Vortex viper today, um, no thanks To the OP Don't sweat this thread. People take their equipment too personal on just about all the firearms forums. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I for one don't see the harm in you post. The reason I don't see the harm is...

    I finally finished her.....

Re: I snappy finished her..... Nice!!!! I'm in the process of building a .30-06 from a model 70 action. Just getting into LR shooting. In North Georgia its tough to find places to shoot 600+yards. I'm going to have to visit friends in South Georgia to get most of my trigger time at 1000 yards.
