    Gunsmithing Normal freebore diameter/clearance?

Re: Normal freebore diameter/clearance? Has this ever been an issue with lapua bullets being .339 as opposed to .338 diameter? Sincerely

    VihtaVuori

Re: VihtaVuori I've switched out all other powders for the VV line and run them in all my guns from 30-30 up to 338LM. (N140 amongst some others is actually subsidized by the government which knocks more than a 1/3 off the price :-) ). The N140 and N150 burn pretty clean, N570 works wonders...

Re: Ancilary equipment: LRF vs. Kestrel either or I was in the same situation as you. I got the Leica 1600 and get air pressure, angle and air temp in addition.

    Suppressors Suppressed .338 LM

Re: Suppressed .338 LM I shot this short video at the range last weekend of a guy trying out my new suppressor. The sound isn't very good on the early generation iPhone, though you can hear the difference from the 308's going off in the background. There was hardly any bang from the rifle...

    308 Secondary Explosion Effect (handloading)

Re: 308 Secondary Explosion Effect (handloading) According to my computer program your load in a standar chamber and with standard brass is very close to SAAMI max pressure. It takes very little fiddling with case volume and seating depth to go above. Sincerely

What is the best bolt action to get in .338 Lapua?

Re: What is the best bolt action to get in .338 Lapua? I second that Jim G, I'm a beginner to long range precision too. I have yet to find a load that doesn't shoot scenars well in a TRG.

What every Man needs to know about Prostate Cancer

Re: What every Man needs to know about Prostate Cancer Thank you Kimmel. It's strange how the world works. A local doctor told me that prostate cancer was more common and in many cases had more serious consequences than breast cancer, yet breast cancer seems to get the most attention world wide.

    Wind estimation techniques.

Re: Wind estimation techniques. There is a 5 min youtube video that goes through the winds effect on vegetation in the 0,5 - 5 m/s bracket. I don't know how accurate this explanation is and I suspect Lowlights run-through is more detailed. Hope it helps Longrange Blog 5, Wind

    Finding the lands

Re: Finding the lands armorpl8chikn: I'm listening. I've used the method the last few times. Checked with other methods and it is consistent. I soot the bullet on a candle before forcing in the chamber to see wether the bullet has been grabbed by lands and pulled back out.

Why would a TRG 42 mag drop too low to feed?

Re: Why would a TRG 42 mag drop too low to feed? I've had a problem with a TRG-42 mag that came with the rifle as well, but might not be the same problem. The bolt seemed to ride over the rounds when I had more than 2 rounds in. The rounds wouldn't line up properly in the stack and were...

    Photos TRG-42 338LM

Re: TRG-42 338LM I certainly will get a supressor. I already have an aluminum supressor on a .30-30 win. From what I have heard from locals around here with 338LMs I need to go for steel, or at least titanium. There are a couple of really good locally manufactured supressors I will take a...

Re: TRG-42 338LM Took it to the range this saturday. A couple of things happened. The first thing I was told was: "remove that abomination from your muzzle!". Fair enough, no muzzle brakes allowed on the range, might as well get aquainted with the real recoil of this gun. Out with my...

Re: TRG-42 338LM Thanks guys. I will shoot it the first time this saturday; with a scope that is (I just had to try it before my rings arrived, aiming down the barrel...). Not easy to find time on the range when total darkness sets in at 3pm...

Fieldcraft My tips and experiences from the wilderness

I was inspired by the Naked into the wilderness threads done by Tres to post a few of my experiences that might help others: It is much easier to build a large fire than a small, so think big if you have the opportunity to roam around the site a bit for fuel. Don't stress and think of doing it...

    New TRG 42 338L

Re: New TRG 42 338L Congratulations on your new rifle. From what I heard locally 89 to 90gr of Rhino 25 behind 300gr scenars is good combo. I have not tried this load myself and I got it from someone else, so be careful and start low. Sincerely,

Sidearms & Scatterguns When do you carry?

Re: When do you carry? I used to carry most of the time. However, I have a family now, and the risk of loosing my family is greater if I get caught carrying than the risk of ending up in a confrontation. My home is always protected. I remember the one time I left my shotgun out of reach in...
