Subject says it all. Most lists say up to 170gr but I have some 175's I had planned to use. What is the downside to using these with the faster twist?

Downside? Not much other than a little less stable in that twist rate. I'd say, that if you've got them, use them...or trade someone for the 168grn.
I've shot them in my 700 and they shoot OK but not as well as some of the lighter shorter bullets like the 168grn SMK's.

I run 178gr AMax's through my 26" 1/12 just fine, the 175gr SMK's should work without issue.

I shoot 175 gr SMK's, 26" barrel 1 in 12 as well. No problems whatsoever.

My buddy's 1:12" shoots great with 175s at 800, compared to the 168s. IIRC, the 168s are more accurate under 300 yards.

Faster twist than what? A 1:12 twist is slower than a 1:8 twist.
1:12 means 1 twist in 12", 1:8 means 1 twist in 8", so 1:8 (or 1:9 etc.) is a faster twist rate than 1:12.
Just sayin'...

no downside, more energy downrange and better wind buck than the 168's. My 1:12's did well with all of them 175 smk, 178 amax/match and 175 NOScc. The one thing I did lie about the 168's was the cheaper price and the boxes of 250.

My gun shoots the 175's very well, and they're just heavy enough to beat out the 168's at 1000. If your gun shoots them straight, go with it.
