I am hoping that someone can help here. Let me preface this by saying I truly am not super knowledgeable about scopes and I am not a "true" long distance shooter. I shoot 3 gun and we shoot out to 500 yards with some matches targets out to 600 yards as bonus targets. With that being said I shoot a Burris Tac 30 1-4x. That takes care of most of my needs but would like to step up to a 1-6x for that little bit of extra help. My question is, why are scopes in the 1-4x reasonably priced but when you jump up to a 1-6x the price goes through the roof quickly? I honestly dont want to invest $1000 on a scope that is going to be dumped, yes literally dumped into a dump barrel as I transition from rifle to pistol/shotgun. Am I missing a manufacture who makes a 1-6x scope? Thanks in advance.

I shoot 3 gun and just recently put a Vortex Razor 1-6 and really like it. Cost me just over $1200 but I think its worth it. It has so much eye relief and the red dot is so bright it really is like running a red dot.
The cheaper 1-6 that I've been hearing good things about is Primary Arms. I don't have any experience nor have I seen one but worth checking out. The other thing you might think about is moving up to a Burris XTR 1-4. Can be had used in really good condition for $500 range and has a 1 moa dot which makes it a much better choice on the long stuff. Not as fast on hoser stages as the Tac 30 reticle but you get used to it.

Thanks Kansas. I have seen a few reviews on the Primary Arms scope but have yet to meet anyone who actually shoots one and they never have them in stock. I will definitely go check out the Vortex Razor. How has your Vortex held up for you?
Vortex. Save up until you can swing it. Puts my other 1.5-6x to shame with regards to brightness, clarity, and eye box.

I've only had mine for a few months and didn't have the right mount to use it at the last of the season last year so I've only shot one match with it. So far so good but can't really tell you from experience how it will hold up. All the reports is they are doing great.
I bought 2 of those primary arms 1-6 a few months ago to top my extra ARs. Lets get one thing straight, its a cheap scope. But for 250 bucks I will be buying more.
Why you ask?
Pros:
1-6 power.
I like the reticle.
Cons: it's a long twist from 1-6 power. Definitely get a cat tail.
Illumination is not daylight visible in bright light. It's not an aimpoint, but on a cloudy day you can see it.
illumination bleeds on the highest settings.
That being said it's cheap and I like it. I looked at quiet a few low to mid priced scopes in 1-4 to 1-8 range, and really this had good bang for the buck. I wanted something fast on 1x with aiming stadia for farther distances on 6x.
That kind of left out the 2fp crosshair scopes and any of the ffp scopes except for the swfa 1-4 and 1-6.
Previously I shot 3 gun with an mtac1.5-6 and that Burris will be getting replaced with a PA. I done like how it tunnels from 1.5-3x, kinda useless.
if one thing could be improved on it I would say the extremely far twist to go from 1 to 6. Seems like it is nearly a full turn though I am sure its closer to 3/4 turn.
give the primary arms a try for the price, you may be impressed with the bargain like I was or at least you will know what features you need in your next 3 gun scope.
I think the swfa 1-4 looks great and I wished they used that same reticle in their 1-6.

I have the USO 1.5-6 (SN-4) that I am pretty happy with. I traded it straight up for my ACOG that I had about $900 wrapped up in. I bet you could get one around the Vortex price range, but I am not sure how they compare.
Here are some of my favorites in the price range:

Bushnell Elite tactical 1-6.5x24
They are both awesome scopes but more and more I seem to like the Bushnell because it's much lighter and the optics are just amazing in comparison to everything else Bushnell does and they should be as I hear they are made by DEON. Considerring the amazing quality of the March scopes, to be able to get a Bushnell with DEON optics is pretty cool, just to say the least.
Yet again, should you choose the Vortex, you will definitely love it.
