Hi all, throwing this out there. I have a Tavor 7 chambered in 7.62x51. I'm planning on slapping a 1-8 on it, but looking for updates on whats the best option for me out there right now. Shooting 50-500 yards.

looking in the 1k-ish max price range. I do qualify for mil discounts, also no problem buying used.
Weight is a big concern (that alone might push me down to a 1-6), but looking for daylight bright reticle, forgiving eyebox, FOV, fast reticle and of course durability. Bonus if the reticle is usable without illumination. Strongly prefer not made in china.

Based on what @koshkin has said in the past, it looks like the Burris XTRii 1-8 FFP fits my needs, but its been awhile, so I dont know if thats changed or not. It also looks like the 1-8 XTRii has been discontinued...??

Also looking at the Primary Arms PLx 1-8 FFP with the ACSS reticle (this is the platinum model, made by LOW). Open to other suggestions as well. I've had the Trijicon Accupower 1-8 in the past, and sold it. It was ok, but the reticle was dim and horrible bleeding, and felt like a very bulky scope for a LPVO (although if I want to avoid that I might have to just drop down to a 1-6).

There are some demos on swfa.

Under $1k? SWFA 1-6.

"1k-ish" and no problem buying used? Nightforce NX8 1-8.

The PA PLx is a lot heavier, and I'm not sure I've seen any rigorous, thorough reviews of its tracking and reliability - and not just on a sample of one (but happy to learn otherwise).

The NX8 1-8 is possible, waiting to see a price on mil discount...
The PLx gave me 2 concerns - one is the lack of info out there about it, other than a Mr. GnG video awhile ago. the other is the weight/size. And if its the same size class as the Burris, with a know track record (and a little cheaper if i can snag it still on mil discount), then I'll probably default to the burris.

Yep, lots of YouTube reviewers giving positive reviews of the PA stuff ... but then they also provide a lot of optics for free or T&E, so they get the views.

Check out this post on the Hide by Vereor. He's not super well-known here, but some of us know him / know enough about his work to trust what he has to say - as it's based on seeing multiples of most optics, with many rounds through them, in both field and formal testing environments ... not what Frank calls a 'bay window' reviewer!: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/shtf-lpvo.7014509/post-8677440

About $1400ish

I am not a fan of PA Plx...while the glass is ok...the turrets are meh...

For about $1K...I'd run a used Vortex Razor...I had a US Optics SR6s on mine...and it was perfect. You aren't gaining that much by going to 8X and you lose the eyebox and FOV...

Used VCOGs also pop up here and there...

I know it's not true 1x on the low end, but the 1.5-8x XTR II is on sale at Natchez for about $530 with the 5.56 BDC reticle. Seems like a decent option for the budget.

I think at this point I'll be deciding between...
1. Step up to a NX8 1-8.... fair price for what it is on mil pricing.
2. FInd a used XTRii 1-8 FFP (kinda concerned it is now a discontinued scope)
3. Drop down to a non-china made 1-6. Maybe maximize my $ for quality here with a better 1-6 (vs a equal price 1-8)... and save weight/size also.
