Haven't seen a post for these yet. Newly released aftermarket AW magazines from Gray Ops.

My current mags are so damn temperamental. I can go 3 months without an issue and then all of a sudden I can’t feed a single round reliably. I have no issue spending this kind of money if it fixes my problem. I already ordered 2. Just reference I running a 6br in an AI.

Aics 10rnd mags are $75 and a 2rnd extension is $45.



So, not like people haven’t been paying $120-$150 for non billet mags already.

I'll wait a bit longer and hope. I've called 5-6 places that AW mags are out of stock and the story has been the same each place. "We've had them on order for months with no communication from the company". Not sure what's up with production these days. I've got 4-5 months until my Foundation + Hawkins with AW mag latch comes in. I very much hope that in that timeframe I can get one.

I'm curious whether any folks will have trouble getting feeding dialed in if the mag catch height alone doesn't solve their issue. With standard AW mags there seems to be a fair bit of mag-tuning and bending feedlips to get them dialed in. With these new mags the feed lips are CNC machined so if the feeding isn't right there's not a whole lot you can do beyond adjusting mag height.

Context is key…

I understand standard AW magazines will likely run fine in three lug bolt actions with a one lug down / two lugs up orientation like AI, ARC CDG, and Aero Solus.

I understand that any other bolt orientation with standard AW magazines will likely need tuning.

I would assume that being billet, if rounds won't feed with the mag tight against the bottom of the action, the onus for feeding will fall back on the manufacturer at that point. Meaning either they will need to replace/fix the mags or offer tuning if you send the rifle in.

This is no longer a product produced for a very specific use (.308 or similar in an AW/AT action) that people are buying and using in actions not designed for them as well as rounds the mag wasn't designed for. You usually don't see anyone needing to adjust feeding in AI rifles with .308 size cases. And if you do, AI is willing to fix or replace those mags. Since they aren't working as intended. As they did with a lot of mags when the ATX was released.

This is now a double stack BR and variant specific magazine that should work in actions cut for AW and the rounds this size.


Basically, when you stick an AW mag in a non AI action or try to run it with a BR case, you are using the mag for something it was never intended for. So that's on you. If it doesn't work with an AI rifle and a .308 size round.....that's on AI. This should be the same way. BR size cartridges should feed fine as long as the mag is tight against the action. If not, that's on Gray Ops. If he finds there are any actions which they don't seem to function with, he'll need to refund those customers as well as make it known on the website.

He's been great with customer service since he started. So I have no doubt he'll stand behind these as well.

Nate, people have been having decent luck back ordering them from Europtic. There’s a few recent posts about that.

I backordered mine from euro optic Feb 24th and they shipped March 25th. I have heard 2 weeks to a month later. Which is what I experienced. The HRD kit now that is a different story

If so, is the spacer removable? It says "built in" which makes me think it's milled as part of the walls, but haven't seen a good top shot to confirm.

Super easy to adjust the mag latch. There's an accompanying QR code in the box that directs you to Dave's video on how to adjust the latch. That's about all the tuning you'll be able to do. No bending of feed lips. I guess you could manipulate the spring geometry...

The spacer is not removeable. There is a ridge/stepdown inside the mag just forward of the feed lips/shoulder. Fit and finish is tops, but there's going to be no adjusting feed lips without a file or a 7 axis...

I have a Zeus QC barrel action chambered in 6BR. The 3 rib magazines from MDT do not work while the 4 rib ones do. Decided to order a 12 round Gray Ops and try it out. Seems to be very high quality but unfortunately it does not play nice on my Manners PRS-TCS with the stock bottom metal. I tried adjusting the mag catch and it won't latch. I'll email Gray Ops and see what they say.

Grendel's about 0.3" inch smaller in diameter, that would be your main problem.

So is the 10 is just a blocked 12 rounder? If so it’d be roughly the same weight/height as the 12, so I’d just get the 12.

I don’t live in a ban state, so I can buy a 12 or 10 rounder. I’m not a competitor so having 12 rds vs 10 rds isn’t a big deal to me.

The standard 6GT length with 105 and 109 hybrids is generally 2.55" or greater. These will not work.

GrayOps has said a standard length magazine is currently in development and should be released.

Anyone else notice that if you use this Gray Ops mag in an AIAT with the optional baseplate that you then can’t remove the mag?

The optional baseplate blocks the mag release and one must pry off the baseplate in order to get enough clearance for the mag release.

Works fine in an AIAX with the baseplate.

You likely have to custom grind down the mag latch specifically for this type of magazine. If you call manners you can buy extra mag catches.

I have not tried it in my AIAT yet but I have a problem in my AIAX getting the mag to release or drop out. I have tried adjusting the mag catch up and down and it just will not release. It feels like something is binding or catching with the Gray Ops Mag. If you have any insight to get it to work in your AIAX please let me know and I will test it out. Also, I will try it out in my AIAT when I get home this evening.

FYI, I using a full AIAT and AIAX rifle and not the chassis if that makes a difference.
