My son shot his first deer this morning, a small Blacktail spike. He used 150 Hornaday Interbond's at 2950 Fps in a 30-06. It's actually a mule deer load but it was the only thing I had on hand for the rifle.

Anyway, the bullet entered just behind the right shoulder exactly where it was supposed to go. The deer was angled slightly away at 88yds and the bullet exited the left shoulder.

The bullet absolutely vaporized the left shoulder. I've seen bloodshot but this was nuts, the shoulder was just plain gone.

Anyone else experienced this with small deer and the Interbond?

    Thanks, 41

    Re: 150 Interbonds on Blacktail

I'm using these pills in the .308 now on whitetail and the this year will be my first experience on deer with this bullet. i'm running a CH under 2700fps if not 2700 on the dot. I hope i don't ruin alot of meat with it...the load is accurate though, so aiming for neck if possible, and if i have to i'll tuck it right behind the elbow to save some of the meat, possibly high shoulder shot.
