<$1500 AR-15 sub .5" MOA possible?

Im looking for a coyote gun that i can also use for long range shooting. More screwing around at long ranges than anything.

I do not want to pay more than $1500 for the rifle. Must be AR platform and shoot under .5" MOA(if possible).

The rifle might be used at some point to shoot F-class

You can build one for 1/2 that. Spend money on the tube and the trigger, all else are comfort and G-whiz items.

Im looking for one i can purchase from a dealer. Will not be able to custom build my own.

Realize i could buy an ar for $700, better barrel for $400, trigger $100, ect. Just looking for one thats already built.

Sorta lookin for a rifle thats similar to what the military uses, m110, RSASS, ect.

RSASS has sub moa accuracy out to 800m.

Ahhhhh, you are NOT looking for an AR-15 you are looking for an AR-10 platform. "Slight" difference in $$$$$$ to either build or buy. A built one will be tough at that price point with your accuracy requirements.

If you're looking for a .223, try the Stag Arms Super Varminter Model 6. I have one on order, but am not seriously looking to compete with it at 1kyd. My dealer sells all he can get, they are on a fixed order, they are universally liked, and there's a waiting list for allocating them as they get received. I plan to try Hornady 75gr Match loads to start with. Local dealers can sometimes beat the list prices. I make no comments re; a .5MOA accuracy demand, but these rifles have a rep as tack drivers. After a lot fo checking around, this is my choice.

Thanks for the info ill look into those rifles.

Im not looking for an AR-10 i do know the difference. was just useing those platforms for a reference to kinda what im looking for in a 15. Ive shot the M110 and loved it.. Just would rather have a .223 that i can shoot all day and not break my bank

Stag model 6. I get .5 with Hornady Match. Less with my handloads.. with its 1:8 barrel it will handle the heavier loads than the 1:9 in the colt.

RRA is the way to go. I have one it shoots 1/2 moa all day with XM193 ammo. You can get one for $1000.

I jut built a 6.5 grendel up with AA 16inch barrel and bolt, mega upper and lmt bolt. mega lower PRS yada yada.

here is a 12 shot group sub moa.

if you subtract the 4 flyers the main 8 shot group is .35 moa

RRA Varmint rifles and Predator Pursuit rifles both do what you're looking for.

I wouldn't buy the complete rifle though. RRA's 2 stage triggers are known for having issues and going auto sometimes with as little as 200-400 rounds. If it was me I'd buy a LMT complete lower with 2 stage and the RRA upp seperately from legal transfers.

If you want to keep all the components the same brand there is a dealer on gunbroker selling LMT uppers with mike rock barrels for under $500. If you put a FF tube or rail on it I'm sure it would be capable of what you're wanting too.

My stag model 6 has shot .33 moa with ha d loads and shoots most factory loads right at .5 to .7moa. I paid $930 for it which in your. Ase would leave lots of money left over. RRA is another good. Choice but I don't think they claim .5 moa like stag does.

Thanks for the info on the RRA triggers. My friend just bought a daniel defense V5 and says it shooots alot better than he would have immagined.

Do people normaly have differnt brand uppers and lowers? Guess ive never really looked into ARs before this. Imma bolt guy.

(Arfcom puke here...so I'll chime in). It's not that different from the "bolt" world. Barrels, triggers, ammunition...and shooter still matter. AR15...or AR10 platform? Big difference. Want to get back into the .308 game...$1,500...you bet. Below is a picture of my long forgotten (still mad about this) factory LR-308 DPMS 24" bull barrel rifle bought for $950...USED! A little VX-III on top with max power of 14...timney 3lb trigger...and good old FGMM 175 grainers.

I just spent $3,000 on a new build...bolt action...inspired here...and struggling to do this again. Now is a great time to own a precision rifle..regardless of action. Hot humid day in florida...3 rounds...barrel was fouled...100 meters.

...and yes, many do quite well building their own ARs from scratch. 100s of components out there to make them better than "factory".

I heard I should stay away from DPMS.. when i was first looking at AR's the one i kept coming back to was the DPSM LR .308. Im mainly looking for a .223 model that will shoot that good though.

I have a .260 TRG coming and plans on buying a .308 DTA SRS by the end of the year.. Just need a good AR-15 for coyotes, fun, and some competition shooting.

Not sure why there is so much "stay away from DPMS" out there. I also have a stock LR308 that I tripped over for $800. It is a repeatable sub .5 MOA shooter just like BravoSectors above. (nice shooting, Bravo)With FGM or handloads, it shoots better than I do. They are cheaper than most, and don't have all the sexy bits to get you the Wow comments, but they shoot, and shoot well. As has been said before, use the saving on glass and ammo, and don't look back.

Looking for an AR that shoots lights out? So is every XTC shooter in the country. Loads of them go to two places already mentioned: compass lake engineering and White Oak. You should strongly consider a 26" barrel to get every fps out of the 223REM.

$1500 or less for an AR-10....that shoots 1/2MOA? Ya, David Tubb struggled with that challenge and he spent way more than $1500 while "tuning-up" his platform. Stick with an AR-15 if you want to avoid headaches.

I just sold a Stag model 6 after owning it for 4 years. It DOES live up to the 0.5 moa guarantee and I shot it out to 1000 yards too. I'm selling to build a bolt gun because the little 223's, even 80 and 82 gr. pills are working hard to get out to 1000 and even then the windage was killing me.

I'll lump on the RRA talk. I only have 1 .223 and it is a rra with a 16" coyote upper that will shoot .5 MOA groups till it gets boring. I don't get the velocity I'd like due to the short barrel but it sees nothing past 300. As for the dpms, I too have always heard people say to avoid them, I have a good friend that picked up a LR308 for 900 bucks and it shoots .5 - .75 with FACTORY stuff. Maybe they are inconsistent from rifle to rifle????

On the DPMS thing, I have often wondered that. I have seen a DPMS mini-SASS that shoots lights out every single time I get to play with it. On the other hand, I have seen a whole shit pot full of DPMS owners on here that aren't nearly as positive about thier experience.

John Hollinger at WOA built my coyote rifle using a SDM bbl with a Wylde chamber, 7 twist, 20" bbl., carbon fiber handguard.
Mated to a RRA lower with a Geiselle SS-A trigger it is a true 1/2 Moa rifle.
I use handloaded 60grn V-Max in lapua brass.

The Rock River Predator Pursuit at sub $1K is a best buy with a sweet trigger, match barrel and less weight. All of those I've seen will shoot 1/2" or better from 50gr to 77gr. Get your order in as lead times are out there on all the good ones. Regards

I'm not too concerned about waiting for a solid AR. I got a trg coming in may when I get home, and currently buying pieces for a custom inputting together.

Does WOA have match uppers that come with picannty rail hand guards? The one I saw was smooth all the way.

Mainly only need a bottom rail from a fore grip.

Buy a Larue Stealth upper after sending them an e-mail from your .mil account; I've shot two of these uppers and they are extremely accurate. After the military discount you'll have over $400 to spend on your lower until you hit your $1,500 limit.

I havent had any issues with my RRA two stage. I have an 18" varminter barrel with a PRS stock and it will shoot .5-.75 MOA with black hills 77 gr. match BTHP, and thats with ME behind it.

+1 for Stag 6H upper. I just built a rifle using this upper, and it shoots very well with my Geissele SSA-E trigger. I am loving my .223/5.56 medium to long range platform so far if that is any encouragement.
