Anyone doing this? I been shooting 175 SMK's out of it but keep getting unexplained flyers. So thought I would try something different.

That's what my GAP-10 is. 155 gr Lapua Scenars work like a charm in it.

I too have a 18" GAP10 308 and I just loaded 100 rounds of 155's with h4895 powder. I'll let you know how they work, someday.

Never could get 155's to work in my 11.25 barrel (24" 5-R Milspec). It does real well with the 175's and now I'm using the 178 A-Max with great results at 300 yards+

Your unexplained flyers are probably not bullet related, but a combination of powder charge, concentricity, neck thickness, and neck tension(hardness of the brass). My Rock 308 barrel shot 155Scenars extremely well, I pushed them hard, 3050fps, but I got sick of my brass only lasting 5 reloads, so if I want 260 performance I shoot my 260, my 308 is 175/178 only weapon now.

My Rock 308 barrel shot 155Scenars extremely well, I pushed them hard, 3050fps, but I got sick of my brass only lasting 5 reloads, so if I want 260 performance I shoot my 260, my 308 is 175/178 only weapon now.

I'm using 46.0 grs. of RE-15 with the 175's getting 2850 fps. I noticed this morning when going through the brass a few had splits at the shoulder neck junction. Yesterday shooting a 1000 yard fclass match I had three sighters you could cover with a 1 1/2 inch spotter then 1st shot for record goes in the 8 ring at 1 oclock, I didn,t think to check the brass, my bad.

The barrel is 18.5", 1:11.25 twist. I've just ram the Southwest Ammo load. They claim 2900 fps for a 24" barrel; I've never chronoed this. I can give you my dope out to 700 yards if you want to try and back calculate it.

155 scenars with somewhere around 44.5 grains or so of RL15 or Varget should be a good load. They could probably go a little hotter but thats getting close to max load. They molly tipped bullets can have feeding problems in a semi auto. The 175's will do better in a 1/10.

Yeah I had a shilen 1/10 twist that really shot it had close 3500 rounds through it when it crapped out. Really wish I'da stayed with the 1/10. I couldn't get this barrel to shoot til I got the velocities way up.

I had some left over R15, and loaded up some 155smk's 2156. I will say the load test was useless. All the groups looked almost identical, around 1/2-3/4 moa. This was out of my FCP with a 1:10 24" stock barrel, so I am sure they will shoot if you find the right powder combo.

Fwi, I shoot 175's smks mostly out of a gap crusader. Bought 2 boxes off 155 scenars and holy sh#%! had a 1.3 inch group at 530 yards. But I will also say that during the big 208 amax compatible in .308 drama here on the hide I decided to test for myself. My barrel is 1:11.25 bartlein. With 42.0 grains varget lapua brass, rlr 9 1/2 primers, at 2.825" coal... The 208 won hands down. 2470 at the muzzle and would stay super sonic to 1400 yards. My first test at 400 yards with a 5 shot group was 3/4". At 520 it was 1". No wind calls. Just got to pick your poison

I shoot mostly 155's thru my 11.25 and 11 twist barrels. All of my guns just pound them.
Also have shot 155's and 175's thru a 12 twist.
Won't be a problem.

I shoot the 2155 155gr SMK with 47gr of Varget Moly coated for Mid Range out of my 1:11.25. They shoot just fine. Actually I know several guys who shoot 1:10's for Palma and the 155's work just fine.
