Barrel is an 18” Rock Creek blank done up by PVA. Had this Bighorn TL3 for about 5 years now. It’s sat in a few stock/chassis, worn a few scopes, and shot a couple barrels by now. Moved to Texas a year ago and got my first whitetail with it. In couple weeks I hope to have a Colorado Mulie buck and Cow elk added to the list for this particular barrel. Currently have tuned Sierra 130 TGK Gamechangers to reliably give me just over 1/4” groups going 2720FPS with very low ES/SD. All in all my circle of people and I are on the shorty band wagon!

Nice build. How much does this weigh as shown ?

What is your velocity and how was the damage with the HH?
I’ll have to check my notes, but around 2,830.
So far I’ve only shot five deer with it. Three neck shots, one heart and this one double lung. All pass through no bullet recovered. Heart shot buck mule kicked and ran forty yards, great blood trail.
Pictured buck, bullet went between ribs took the lungs out. Ran thirty yards and crashed into a tree and piled. Inch and a half exit, great blood trail.
All shot between 70-120 yards. I’ll try to bust a shoulder next time

Did you loose much meat to bullet damage and blood shot. I was running 147 eldms in my prc but the damage was way too much. I have a load worked up for the HH’s but didn’t pull a tag this year to test them

The only one that I lost a bunch of meat using the 124 HH was a front chest shot that exited through the right shoulder bone. We probably could have saved some but after hunting all day then skinning 5 or 6 other deer and a 475# bear we were just like fuck it and tossed the shoulder.

What chassis is that

I checked out the site but couldn’t find what material the chassis is, any insider info on that? Looks awesome and I do love me a folder…

Long time lurker in this thread… In fact, it’s what has inspired me to do my first Bolt Action build, and I’ve just finished test-fitting so I figured I’d post it up!

-Trued Remington R700 SA, standard bolt face
-Timney Elite Hunter Trigger
-Badger Ordnance Maximized Recoil lug (Req’d grinding to fit chassis, was ~0.120” too long)
-Faxon 16” 8.6 BLK Barrel
-MDT ACC XL chassis w/ folding stock
-Primary Arms 1-6x scope & rings

So… What’s the purpose of this “odd” rig? Because I’ve got factory bolt action rifles in cals ranging from 17 HMR to 338 Lapua, so… Why not? :D

If I like the round well enough, it will definitely be going in a lighter chassis. This thing is heavy! I suspect a pork sword or other minimalist chassis is in this barreled action’s future!

Idk why but I always see a mullet when I see a scope with little or no objective bell! Sick looking build though! Got my 18” 6 creed barrel ordered!

Swapped to a 18” light Palma barrel from a 26” m24. I like it a lot better now.

New blind/stand rifle. Bergara Wilderness Ridge SP 18" 308. Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x50 in Talley Modern Sporting Rings 30mm Medium on a Talley Picatinny rail and a TBAC Ultra 7 Gen2 CB. It comes in at 8lbs 9oz with the glass, TBAC CB brake and no ammo and 9lbs 1oz with the can.

I plan to run it as is for the rest of this season and see what I think. I am considering a different stock with a detachable AICS mag setup and possibly sending the bolt off for fluting. Hopefully the Vortex doesn't let me down.

I will be following. I was just looking at this exact rifle for the exact same purpose. I have an Ultra7 and an extra Razor HD LHT 1.5-8 that needs a home and it seems like a perfect setup for treestands.

Hunting rig. Had my old 6.5 creed barrel laying around, got it cut down to 18”, and spun her back on. Still a little heavy but does the job
