Range Report 168 gr AMAX at 1000 yards

I am getting 2575 fps out of my M14 with this bullet which translates to around 1150 fps at 1000 yards. Does anyone know if that is enough to remain stable or will it keyhole? I ran numbers on Sierra 175 gr at 2600 just for the hell of it and came up with 1191 fps at 1000, so not much different.

It should remain stable.

even though its anecdotal, I have shot 168 out of a 26" barrel turnbolt to 1300 yards.

NOT the most consistent, but i wouldn't want to be standing downrange

I wouldn't shoot it. You're right on the edge and depending on your altitude, 168 anythings are not very consistent at 1K. If it's me, I don't waste the ammo.

Only one way to find out for sure. Shoot it. It will be close but might surprise you.

I figured it would be close, I have a 1000 yard shoot coming up in June that I will make an attempt at. Couldn't hurt to send a few downrange.

Google Forbes rifle range Albany, NY. It's not an actual match, just 1000 yard practice, but it's a good time.

Ok I have heard of Forbes before. Will check on the dates.
