Ok just this last year I had eye surgery and I opted for lens that let me see a nats hair at a mile away but anything up close can be hard. So I need to get some new sights for my tarus 1911 but with so many options I'm not sure what kind to get. I figured someone here has got have some imput.

You just need to be able to focus on the front sight, which is several inches beyond your extended arm, so any sight will work. For precision, a small front sight and relatively thin rear notch works. For speed, a wide rear notch is helpful and some think the u shaped notch helps. Lots of options. If you can't focus on your front sight, no sight will work.

I've had that same surgery, and it is great to be able to see the ridges on a clay pigeon at 45 mph without prescription lenses, but I also experienced that "front sight" problem you mention. Strangely enough, as I was playing around with some of my red dot optics, I noticed I can see that very clearly. You may want to wander down to the LGS and look through some of the mini red dots. Six or eight of them are small enough to mount on your Taurus.

If this is your defensive pistol, get Meprolight night sights. From my experience, they are the brightest and hold their glow the longest. If this is a target pistol which you will only be using for competition, get a fiber optic sight (the longer the better.) There is always the option of getting a set of CT grips, but those just aren't as challenging to shoot with.
