2 stage trigger similar to AI

I’m wondering if anyone can provide some input or guidance on a 2 stage trigger I can run on a badger action so Remington style trigger that can get close to the feel of an AIAX. Looking for brand recommendations and pull weight within that brand to get close if possible.

I have read the 2 stage trigger threads comparing brands such as the Huber and Calvin Elite but none mentioned AI as it’s not something you can add on to a custom rifle.

My desire is to find a trigger I can put on my 6.5 saum which currently has a single stage CE at 1.5# that isn’t such a huge change in feel going back and forth between it and my Aiax when at the range alternating between the two. Once I shoot the ax and switch to the saum it takes a few rounds to get back to single stage feel. My hopes were to sell my customs to get an MC so I could have the same feel between all cartridges but things aren’t moving so looking for alternatives to that plan. Never had a 2 stage on a bolt gun until I got the short action ax but starting to really like it.

The AI trigger is pretty unique, and ive not felt a remmy pattern trigger that feels anything like it. That said, there are some nice two stage triggers. My timney two stage is garbage, but some like them. The huber is nice, but a further departure from AI feel imo. Ive not tried a bix n andy yet.

I run an AIAX and have timney calvin elite 2 stage triggers on my other rifles. works for me. you will have to play with them to get them the way you want them. but they are adjustable for both 1st and 2nd stage.

I like my calvin elite single stages although one has some creep, I have read the two stages are pretty hit or miss with most having some complaint about creep in them. That was my first thought but after more reading I have sort of discounted them in my mind.

I've read bix and andy is a good trigger but dirt/dust is a concern???? anyone care to confirm or deny this from experience with it?

Huber sounds like a good option from my research but expensive and a bit of a wait for one looking at his website, also not user adjustable so have to get it right the first time on ordering.

Not heard of the CG xtreme I might have to look into it.

I am sure you can adjust the CG extreme but the one I had was different fron my AX. They have their one that goes on the Socom rifle that might be different. It is a great trigger either way.

I currently have my Timney 2 stage with the weight cranked up and as much over travel as I can give it. It is almost close.

Sorry to hear that. I have had three Hubers and they all had smooth take up and a crisp break. I'm sure if you sent it back they would make it right.

What 918v is the norm for the huber. Its closer in reality to a Set Trigger than a 2 Stage. Once thats 1st stage is broken, its gone till you either recock the bolt or break the 2nd stage.

The one time I had to call John he very diplomatically explained what I might have done wrong installing his trigger on my ARC, five minutes later it was perfect.

What do you call perfect? Does your Huber reset the first stage on its own if you change your mind and take your finger off the trigger? Or do you have to reset it using the safety? Do you even understand how it works???

I'm not sure what you are talking about. If I under stand you at all you are claiming that on your Huber (suppose yours is set for 2 pounds 1 pound first and 1 pound second) if you pull the first pound and release the trigger it stays where is is and fails to return home. Mine does not do that.

I answered your guestion, but you avoided mine when I ask if you called John Huber. I suppose you would rather bitch on the internet than have a perfect trigger.

You don’t know what going on inside. The trigger shoe returns home but the internals do not reset. There is a distnct difference in pull. For example, you close the bolt, apply pressure to the trigger shoe, feel the drag, and get to the second stage. Then you change your mind and let go. The trigger shoe returns to the forward position but THE SEAR LEVER does not. If you apply pressure to the trigger shoe at this point there is no resistance. It goes right to the second stage without moving any of the internal levers. It remains in single stage once you take up the first stage. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with how a two stage trigger works before commenting further.

I really have no idea what you are on about. I got the rifle out and did about two hundred dry fires sometimes pulling the trigger most of the way then releasing it. The pull was exactly the same every time. If you actually have a Huber trigger and it is not working correctly call John. He includes his cell number with the installation instructions.
