In the woods or heading there..
A friend ended up with some 200g smk's. He asked if I have any info on load development for a 308. I do not and was wondering if I could get some feeback anyone out there that has done this with success. A Rem 700P is the platform.
Anyone out there ever do this with any success? Also woud be interested in any pros or cons.
Thanks,
DS

Re: 200g smk's for .308?

Physics based recommendation: No-Go

The Remington 700P in .308 has a 1:12 ROT. Check? Expected MV is 2400 fps. Check? SMK's bullet length is 1.403" Check?

Borderline flight 'unstable' (a value of 1.3 on a scale of 1.3 to 2) based on Miller stability equation. IMHO, would limit an upper end of 180gr for a .308.
