Just got back from SD from our annual pdog shooting trip.
Thankfully the weather was nice.

Moof, 308Skinner, my Dad, myself, and another friend went this year.

Shooting was pretty good, not quite a bloody as last year, but good none the less. The pups were just comming up, and the adults were a bit skittish. This and the sometimes up to 25MPH wind made for some interesting LR shooting! Had quite a few kills between 500yrds and the furthest being 825yrds with the 223AIs.

Here are my participants- F-R. 223AI, 223AI, AR15, 223 bolt rifle, another AR15.

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

A couple of rattlers that I killed. I actually killed 4 that day. All within 50yrd-100yrds of each other. 2 were killed with a 22LR pistola, the others with a 75AMAX @3100 FPS at a range of 10FT! As you can see they lost their heads....

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

Pretty country, ain't it? I've spent a lot of time out there in past years. Pheasant hunting around Winner area, tagging along while some friends deer hunted, and got to kill a few prairie dogs one day. Pretty insane stuff...truly a sportsman's paradise.

Glad you guys had a good hunt!

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

Looks like a lot of fun guys. I'm getting a 223 AI done right now, and a prairie dog shoot is on the agenda sometime hopefully. Thanks for sharing 7mmRM.

How did the AR's do on this job compared to the bolts? </div></div>

They did fine and they are fun to shoot pdogs with. With that said its not a very fair to compare them to the bolts. For the bolt rifles are running 75 AMAXs and the AR15s are runnin 60VMAX and 55 Blitzkings. In the wind and longer ranges the 75s win the day- handidly.

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

i never get bored waking up in the morning and looking at the river hills. What part of the state where you in. Was going out this morining but got a 1.5 inch of rain last night so it is a little muddy

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

My Pops usually heads that way every year but isnt this year cuz he said they had used poison in some areas and numbers were down.

Notice that when you were out there??

We did not run into any of that.

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

Great pic's, you're making my mouth water.

We'll be heading out in about 2 weeks. We've been shooting the same town in North Dakota for about 5 years. We park the RV on the edge of the town and don't move for a week.

This year I'll be taking an 8 twist 6mm BR, 14 twist 6mm BR, 243 AI and my .223. along with a couple of rimfires.

Re: 2010 PDog kill.

7mm,
what ranch you guys shoot on, i'm about 1/2hr from white river, we used to have thousands of dogs on our ranch, but the plague got over 3/4 of em, still enough for me to have some fun though.
