No giant, but will add to the 3 others in the freezer. He came in not using one front leg, turns out he was shot in the shoulder blade earlier (6.5cm? LOL). Well lightning struck the same place twice; I drew another NV sheep tag this year. California BH ram last year, Nelson (Desert) BH ram this year! One lucky SOB, I've been watching over my shoulder since drawing this tag as it's a super rare deal for ONE of these tags in a lifetime.
Sheep hunting is always a special time, and I couldn't have asked for better buddies to be along with me on this one. Overwhelmingly grateful for the experience and the journey, the harvest is the cherry on top.

It's a dream of most, if not all big game hunters for sure. I really do feel grateful, not just for the luck, but the timing in my life where I really enjoyed and appreciated the experiences and time with the buds.

One of my son's first deer with a bow and his first year bowhunting. He shot his first deer when he was 13 with my 6.5 grendel and I remember when he got the shakes after. He called me after he shot this buck at 6 yards while hunting on the ground. He was just as excited or more on this deer at 23 as he was for his first one.

His truck has a 6.5' bed. Wish I had a scale, had to be 250-275 lbs. My son is 6'-2" and 225.

Im headed out in the morning for my first Kansas hunt. Its a gun hunt but hopefully I'll have a big whitetail to post up on here sooner than later.

only took does this year. Got my 16yo nephew lined up on a whitetail at 190 yards. Windy as all hell, 20-25mph.

He ended up with a neck shot, combination of wind and a pulled shot. Needs far more trigger time to get used to it. His 25-06 did well though.

I took a mule at 320 yards, with a 30mph cross wind. Preaching to my nephew to think about the wind when it’s time to shoot, I somehow blanked out on the wind. So ended up with a neck shot as well. Looks like I also need more practice.

Those Iron Wills are pricey, but they sure do penetrate. He is lucky there wasn't a bigger tree behind that buck or he would have needed a chainsaw to get it back.

Got a doe a few weeks ago, first archery deer in 3 years and first deer with the Annihilator broadhead. Pretty severe quartering away shot, took out two ribs in and out. She went 25 yards, spun twice, and went down. I don't think I have had an archery kill that died so fast. They really punch a hole.

A coyote that came too close last Wednesday morning. Fog was so thick that I could barely see 20-50 yards until after 9. I carry the Ruger just for yotes, cats, and coons. The CCI min-mags dropped her on the first shot to the chest, added another and one to the head though. I expected her to run.

Took a doe with the Excalibur Micro 340 Friday (last day of regular archery season) 33yds.

Saturday rifle opener, took a fat doe with the RPR .308 using Hornaday Black 168gr.

I had a fun hunting trip this year with a good buddy of mine. We spent 17 days chasing deer, hogs, ducks, coyotes, squirrels.

I tried to cook the horns, but they still were not edible.

Decided to do something a little different then the bleached skull so I went with the bronze look.

my brother shot a doe in the backyard last nite. other than the small buck i shot in the neck some years back, it's the first actual bang-flop i've seen, broadside about halfway down just behind shoulder, just dropped like a sack of potatoes, no kicking no nothing. nosler ballistic tips. sorry no pics.

First blood drawn with the 6.5 PRC yesterday evening. Filled an anterless tag on a decent sized doe at 211 yards. The factory 147s do a pretty godd job. Imapct velocity was about 2575. First picture is the exit. Internally the holes are about the same.

Yeah, he's a big damn deer. Those split brows on both sides are awesome, his bases are 7 1/2" and he's 24" inside spread.

No, I knocked mine down with a high frontal neck shot at 90yds with a Grendel bolt gun/ultra 7. I shot a doe +/- 5 seconds later while she was looking around to see what happened to him. I wanted to wait for better shot but that doe knew something was up with that weed clump and quit coming closer when she hit about 75. I was worried she'd bust me and they would haul ass. I waited just until his throat patch cleared the weeds and I plugged him right under it and he crumpled. Does kinda make me want to try archery out there next year. It would be a damn tough bow hunt though. Fuckers are spooky and could spot deer miles off out there. I bow hunt CO and AL, should probably just stick with the gun in KS if I want to continue to be successful.

Nice 4-point blacktail I connected with on closing day afternoon this Wednesday. Came out into the open with an hour or so of daylight left. Heart shot from 250yds seated off the tripod. He dropped right there, got up, took 2 steps and then piled up. 140gr ELDM from a 24" 6.5 creed. Had this barrel spun up for NRL Hunter (usually hunt with a 20" .308 barrel on this setup) but was too lazy to pull it after finishing load dev.

Here's my lil South Texas 9pt taken this week. Shot on 10 acres with 6.5 Creed 129gr SST. Piled up in about 25yds. Found most of the bullet just underneath the skin of the far shoulder. Unfortunately both front quarters had a lot of damaged meat. I wanted a neck shot, but I couldn't get this guy to stop walking to save my life. Damn near had to yell at him, and he stopped right in the edge of the brush line where all I had was a vitals shot.

brother got a doe on my 5 acres. i grabbed it with the tractor, brought it up under the garage lights, raised it up to the height he wanted and he had it gutted and done with minutes. easy peasy and way too civilized.

i have a couple of the elastic-strap head-mounted lights from walmart, inexpensive, hands free and pretty bright, have one or two in each vehicle. but yeah floodlights way better!

Our season is going well. Doe in bow season, 8 pt with my sons 300blk, and another doe. With some more luck, the freezer will be pretty full.

My dad has a hoist gambrel that fits into the receiver hitch on his ranger. Allows him to pick up the deer and drop it in the bed- and getting into and out of the ranger is easier than getting on the tractor. And, he mounted a winch to a rafter in his shop. Plenty of light and no lifting or dragging. Just pull into the shop and lift the deer out of the bed with the winch. Then pull an empty molasses bucket under the deer before starting.

I’m young and dumb enough to drag them to the road. We do, however, have a set of floods at the “deer cabin” for processing.

Tagged # 3 a couple hours ago......just when I was about to pack it in. Hornady hollow point from the .44 mag shredded the heart. She didn't go more than 25 yards and was dead before she hit the ground.
