this is a very broad question but basically i just want to know whatever i can find out. I havent been able to pull much up on the 219 zipper improved. but im going to get my hands on one soon and would like to start learning about it and honestly all i kow is basically the name

what caliber is it i know it shoots 55gr pills so i would assume its a 22 cal variable but i dont know what kind of velocities or anything these get

Re: .219 zipper improved

It is .22 caliber, although the custom rifles back in the day were often but not always made on re-chambered .22LR barrels with about a .001 smaller groove diameter and 1-16 twist. You can use .224 bullets but the .22LR barrels were designed for .223 bullets. The case is a necked down 30-30 so it has a rim. It will not work in most modern bolt action rifles. There were many improved versions including the 219 Donaldson Wasp. The 219 DW was one of the first "Benchrest" cartridges.

If you have a 1-16 twist you will be limited to 40-45 grain bullets (maybe a little heavier) and velocities will be in the 3200-3400 range depending on what you want to do.
